Heard of a new thing recently that some couples do to share the surprise of whether they are having a boy or girl. After the ultrasound, the doctor writes on a paper what the gender is and the couple gives that to a bakery to make a cake thats covered with icing and is either blue or pink inside. Then they have a party with their loved ones and cut the cake to reveal the gender. Some couples will find out the gender at the ultrasound and reveal to everyone else like this, others find out themselves at the cake cutting as well!
You keep the doctor’s report in case the bakery messes up and does something like this
^ a lot of parents want to know beforehand, this is just a new way to share the surprise. they are happy either way, boy or girl, they just want a healthy baby. unlike in our pakistani culture, where if they cut the cake and it was pink everyone would probably be horrified!
honestly i love the idea. of sharing the gender with your closest friends and family and everyone sharing in the surprise at the same time. i would prefer it over a baby shower.
I think some people might find its just making too huge a spectacle (and as an act to grab attention) over something that should be private and personal....j.ust like showing ultrasound pictures, or baby showers etc
Its' a cute idea but I don't see many people I know going for it...esp since even baby showers are still so controversial (at least here on GS it seems to be so)
^^Baby showers are not a thing in Pakistan as of yet,atleast from what I know.Over there the hype is all about having a male child from the day you announce the pregnancy..everyone from the MIL to the maasi doing the dishes or the distant relative's neighbor will give you the dua...just imagine the look on their faces if there is a shower and a cake which has pink icing...!!...:D
If I ever had/have a shower and wanted/want to share it with my family and friends I would love this idea...!!
its a cute idea... And if i were to reveal the gender of the baby, i'd def go with this... just imagine the curiosity & the rush around the cake cz im sure everyone wud like to know,esp if ur doing a big party.
I think there are certain things in life that all you have to do is simply give and receive the news in order to feel great happiness.. you don't necessarily need a party or a cake to celebrate
I like the idea! I thought it was really cute. But I dont think I would ever do something like that....I just have this need to know before anyone else!
