I never heard aggressive man being portrayed as assertive and ambitious. From what I have seen among friends who have aggressive male bosses (including me) we usually call them = douchebag, dickhead and a gunner

the view is different from above than from below.
you may refer to your male boss as the names you’ve mentioned but his superiors may have a different opinion and find his “aggression” to translate to “ambition”.
