Gender Balance at workplace

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

man aggressive = assertive and ambitious
woman aggressive = b!tch, bitter feminist with a chip on the shoulder

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

This is certainly true and probably is one of the big reasons why women are not paid the same as men. How do I know this? The job I recently got pays quite well and I accepted whatever they offered me initially without much negotiation. Turns out it is at least $10k-$15k below what it normally pays. I found out later. Such a woman I am. -__-

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

Not my fault that one has insecurities.
And 99% of awam here don’t even care what society thinks of them :chai:

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

wow…that totally sucks.
I applied for a job in an industry that was totally new to me…in fact I was consulting Google aunty for definitions of ERP and CRM the night before my interview…went through 5 interviews in the company then threatened to turn down the offer if they didn’t increase it by $10K, stock options and an add’l week of vacation.
you always, always, always have to negotiate.

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

I think it has to do with my age too. I am usually the youngest person in my group. They see I am young, enthusiastic but don’t have enough experience to do the job like the seniors. I honestly felt like it was age descrimination more than anything. I was too naive to negotiate. I thought I was getting a good deal, which it still is but feel a bit stupid after finding out I could have gotten more. I am not greedy by any means.

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

Well, yes. Governments usually contract these things out and private firms are usually better suited to engage in “market research”. I don’t think the report being from 2009 is an issue since this has supposedly been a problem for the past 20 years and continues to be one today.

Bottom line: there is a gap, but it’s around 5 cents. Why this gap exists certainly merits investigation and education but it does not merit political policy changes.

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

Nope, it’s the latest feminist fad in their pursuit of world domination!

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

I never used the word woman in my post. Whats with all the insecurity and hue and cry all over the thread?

you say it ‘means giving equal chance to two equal persons’.

Now are you saying what the purpose of gender balance is, or are you saying thats how it actually works in the organizations?

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

I never heard aggressive man being portrayed as assertive and ambitious. From what I have seen among friends who have aggressive male bosses (including me) we usually call them = douchebag, dickhead and a gunner

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

Misbah is not aggresive. And he is a male boss.

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

What the hell is wrong with you? why do you spam everywhere with these meaningless cricket or round roti refereces?

Re: Gender Balance at workplace

the view is different from above than from below.
you may refer to your male boss as the names you’ve mentioned but his superiors may have a different opinion and find his “aggression” to translate to “ambition”.
