wow…that totally sucks.
I applied for a job in an industry that was totally new to me…in fact I was consulting Google aunty for definitions of ERP and CRM the night before my interview…went through 5 interviews in the company then threatened to turn down the offer if they didn’t increase it by $10K, stock options and an add’l week of vacation.
you always, always, always have to negotiate.

I think it has to do with my age too. I am usually the youngest person in my group. They see I am young, enthusiastic but don’t have enough experience to do the job like the seniors. I honestly felt like it was age descrimination more than anything. I was too naive to negotiate. I thought I was getting a good deal, which it still is but feel a bit stupid after finding out I could have gotten more. I am not greedy by any means.
