It was in 74.. but in 83, Zia-ul-Haq also passed an ordinance which was not very much liked by them :-)

Old dogs actually had a party at zero point after the incident. one of the best planned things ever, all the gen. and him in one plane and the last words.

He is dead, long gone. Move forward and think about future and how we are going to fix the problems that he may have created.
Considering the time and events of 80s, he was the right man at the right time, pretty much like today.

The biggest problem with Pak Army as I see it and that Gen Zia Ul-Haq Shaheed should have done was to change their 'Stiff' Western Uniforms.
U put that uniform on any paindu guy or for that matter any civilian and their EGO gets blown out of proportion, they start strutting around like Roosters and forget their real purpose in life i.e. defend Pakistan
On the other hand the Afghan Mujahideen had no uniforms and no parades .. they kicked *SS big time!
