Re: Gen. Zia-ul-Haq
Alright, now that you admit on that promise of transfer of power, lets come back to the issue at hand. Most of what you said was bashing Bhutto. Let see now...
"Getting rid of alcohol", how did that help stop the consumption. Just about the same number of people drink alcohol, the only difference is, now most of the alcohol is smuggled from countries abroad.
"Improving Relations with Arab Countries", let not give credit to Zia for his successors work. Remember the Arab Oil Embargo and the big OIC meeting?
"Forming the Ummah", well, he was just a puppet installed by the US to do as they please, and he served them loyally, without questioning them, and when in the end he outlived his usefulness, he was wasted.
To be honest, there is a lot more that you could bring up, the 2-3 qualities of Zia that you brought up is nothing really exciting, its just something that an ordinary person would talk about. Lets talk about his policies on freedom of press, freedom allotted to political parties, his non-party basis elections, the Ojhri Camp Incident, policies on Afghanistan, handling of the Siachin Front, and the mess of 1988.
