Strongly oppose any extension what so ever. Its time to start trusting institute and not personalities. There are at least 4 if not more other Generals who are as or may be more capable. He did his job a lot better than his predecessors but to be fair knowingly or not knowingly he did let some bad apples in GHQ continue to operate a state within a state. In my opinion, this is a done deal and he will not get extension.

I’ll personally strongly oppose any extension ( like my protest will be noticed and NS will change his decision) for the army chief, it will be weakening the Army as an institute and would creatw bad examples, Army cheif should go and if he thinks he have got enough support, then he can contest elections…
Just go ahead and appoint a new army chief…

Agreed. NS should announce retirement of current CAOS and prepare to work for new CAOS purely on seniority no other criteria.

Technically Seniority is not sufficient for a COAS so one of three senior most .

I have least idea what is the official protocol to promote to this highest position. Whatever the rules are, they should never be bent to bring someone with political ambitions and affiliations particularly to the ruling party. Once ZAB and later NS committed this blunder and you know what were the results.

One of main requirement is that the person must have commanded a corps. So has to be a corps commander as well(present or past).
I had read a news where it said the senior most generals are due to retire in 2017, so it won’t be a long tenure ?? Either that or they promote a junior officer who still has few yrs left rather than few months or a year at most.
Anyway, not sure why the corrupt PM is so reluctant to announce the new COAS. If PM is not interested, the army should choose their own coas.
Why even involve civilians in it??
Another question is, who will RS recommend to the corrupt PM?

One gets promotion he gets new period likely in case of a promotion for COAS his retirement will be due after three years .
