Nobody is born gay and these people certianly were not either. It is something called “control and purification of the nafs” in Islam. Otherwise every single act whether good or bad can be justified by humans.
I personally haven’t met any “gay muslims” but a friend of mine did. The guy told him that at a certain point in his life, he felt attracted toward other males but he prayed to Allah swt to guide him as he knew that the way he was thinking was wrong. And Allah swt did guide him and he was able to rid of his homosexual emotions.
If these people believe that homosexuality is allowed in Islam then they do not believe in the Quran.

If you are trying to say that these people should remain celibate, then that is a different argument. You can't however say that these feelings aren't natural. Homosexuality has been around since before religion and is (excuse the term) rampant in the animal kingdom, when it comes down to it ..
I distinctly remember being asexual as a small child. I absolutely did not understand male-female courtship, or any of the outward manifestations of it (as seen on TV, of course).
So, as for this being "born" crap...sorry. Doesn't wash. It was a gradual awakening, and with hindsight I can say it was HEAVILY influenced by my environment...
As for the Animal kingdom, their form of sexuality is often akin to rape. Bonobo monkeys are known to "discipline" their young by sodomizing them. Saw it on Discovery channel. Hardly the standard by which we should judge human sexual behavior.

Being homosexual and practicing it are two totally different issues. Sex is totally animistic, no matter how we try and "dress" it up, what goes on in someone Else's bedroom is not your concern.

Precisely my thoughts. I’m not so sure about being “born” gay, maybe it is acquired, maybe its not. But truth of the matter is that when gays/lesbians come out, they are adults and have the right to at least say “how” they feel. Being gay does not equal sodomy. When they engage in sodomy, then we can all chant “haram haram”.

There has always been a never ending debate over how much biology plays a role and how much environment and upbringing plays a role in shaping personality. There is a varying degree of sexuality even in straight people as to how sexually attracted they are towards the other sex again depending on various factors...you cannot say environment is completely responsible for it because homosexual behavior exists even among societies that dont do it openly in which case the enviroment is ruled out.
...the next few decades will be interesting. As we move to a more permissive society in the West, it will be interesting to see if there is an increase in admitted bisexual/homosexual traits in the population. Hope someone is keeping count. The idea is that more exposure, and less of a stigma should see a rise...
Open question is if there was ever a society that considered homosexual sex a good thing, and if as a result it was widely practiced. Greek society had sanctioned certain fetishes, namely sex with boys. I can't say how widely practiced it was, though. I find it interesting though, since the particular fetish can't possibly have a biological basis...or can it?

If it's based on an individual's personal experience this may not be the case. For the sake of argument, consider if homosexuality is determined by early interactions between males. No matter what society at large dictates, it will be that encounter that determines a child's sexual future (again, for the sake of argument...not saying it happens like this)...
I dont' know if science will ever have the answer. I rely on wild ass guesses and intuition.
The thing is, people have the ability to pleasure themselves...that IS, if you look at it from a functional point of view, a form of homosexuality. I mean, if we were raised in an environment where we were told it was expected to have homosexual relations at some point, I actually think we would do it. I just don't see this biological block (other than mismatched anatomy)...I see it more as psychological.

We are closer to chimps than penguins, chimps practice homosexuality. It may not be common, does not mean it is not “natural”. A womans place is in the home anyway, working is unnatural right there.
