The level of difficulty is the same, actually more for gay couples who want to adopt.
and actually the income requirements are not very stringent. not enough to make adoption impossible for a huge chunk of population.
my view is very simple, when all orphans are adopted by straight couples, then we can make a law saying gay couples cant adopt.
Until then we can be on our moral high horse and sentencing the kids who would have otherwise been adopted to grow up in an orphanage.
You know that's impossible. If someone really wants to be a humanitarian why doesn't he seek better means and choose better and permanant solutions for the orphans?
