**Well,
This is all Baseless talk.. They just want to be in the News, and are bound to make such stupid statements from time to time.
(1) IPL is the Best thing to have happened to the World of Cricket. More and More people wanna play cricket as there are many opportunities now.. Afterall, how many could have made it to the National Side..? Now, they have another platform where they can play cricket and earn a living.
(2) Ego of players..? What Ego..? What made you think they have Ego..? If Ego is the problem, Australian Cricket would have finished long before it came into being.
I think it is just that we're reading too much into it. The Fact is, the team combination is wrong and must be corrected ASAP.. Nothing more, Nothing less.. !!
G'day**

You apparently don't know Imran Khan in 2013...who is very close to being the MOST POPULAR PERSON in Pakistan right now and running for elections, he does not need a "photo op" as they say, he is already "IN THE NEWS" 24/7 and most of the time for very very good stuff.
So go, enjaaaay karo...agar tumhain puranay experts kee baat samajh naheen aati..

Why India has not being able to win a T20 WC after IPL

It may be good for "rest of the players" but not necessarily 'main-stream' players who play or want to play in international games representing India.

Without getting into this specific debate - just a small comment. No politician misses a photo op, and that would include Imran Khan. This was viewed by Pakistanis also. To appear ambassador like would benefit the second best all rounder the sub continent has produced.

I Disagree. Cricket is Imran's passion, he is doing a lot more to get "photo ops" and rightfully so. Don't think I am naive to the fact that he is has become a politician. The pakistani people see more of him every single day on every news media than any of the other cricket has-beens.
Re: Gavaskar, Imran blame IPL, Player's ego for indian team's downfall
True. But being seen on this stage would have helped with his image.
Having said that of course cricket is his passion and Imran would have done this.

But India did manage to win the ODI World Cup.
Go to No.1 in all Rankings.
Plus, it gives the Domestic players a lot of exposure.. Nowhere would they ever get a change to play with international players. I am not saying that Indian Team has benefited a lot.. CRICKETERS have benefited a lot.. They have a platform now, where they can play cricket and earn money..
Think about the Players from West Indies, Bangladesh etc.. How much do you think they earn by playing Cricket..? One entry in IPL and they're Millionaires now.. !! **

Ever heard of the 3 Ts in cricket, Talent Technique and Temperament (= patience + application + discipline). Temperament means applying yourself as a batsman, studying the conditions (bowler, bounce of the pitch) and reading the situation well (how many wickets have fallen already, how many overs of main bowlers remaining, the required run rate etc.)
T20 essentially tests your talent or skill but not necessarily your technique or temperament. A talented IPL player may occasionally do well in T20 but struggle in ODI and test cricket (the real deal)
ODI again primarily tests your talent but technique and temperament only to a small or limited extent
Test cricket tests all three in great abundance
And who's saying there should be no IPL. The issue is some players deliberately missing international games during the IPL season (because it pays them better). Gavaskar's point was that some indian players had chosen in the past to miss international games during the IPL season. This is clearly not right. Your national duties should always take priority over any IPL or domestic commitments. Would an English player be allowed to play county cricket during an international season? similarly would an Australian player be allowed to miss tests because of Big Bash League?. NO. Imran's point (and not without good reason) was that too much emphasis on IPL was hampering the development of good test players in India. India's performance in tests over the past 2 years (two away 4-0 white washes, loss to England at home) must serve as a wake-up call. They have lost 10 of the last 11 tests against England and Australia!
I believe that all three formats (Test, ODI, T20) can exist side by side. It's about getting the balance right. Perhaps there should be no bilateral T20 series and T20 games should just be confined to 2-yearly world cups. This would also help reduce player burnout.
Re: Gavaskar, Imran blame IPL, Player's ego for indian team's downfall
**As I see it, the MAIN purpose of any game is enjoyment and entertainment..
What gets in more crowds..?
IPL or ODIs..?
I totally agree with your 3T argument. Never have I said that a cricketer should forget his technique. All I am saying is IPL is in no way bad for the game.. If not good, definitely not bad. Also, you put forth only the batsman's perspective.. Not the Bowlers. **
Re: Gavaskar, Imran blame IPL, Player's ego for indian team's downfall
Well, India's bowling has never been great and I was talking mainly from their perspective. If the batsmen had applied themselves, perhaps India would have been able to draw if not win (as you do need to take 20 wickets to win a test match) some of those tests against England and Australia. Batting has been failing (apart from 1 or 2 good performances) collectively & consistently for quite sometime and that should be a major concern.
