Oh bhai, from where did Pakistan and Abdul Qadeer Khan came into picture... ???
And let me tell you if you are not well informed, France and China have offered Pakistan Civil Nuclear Technology, Pakistan had good relations with France and as far as China is concerned i guess Pakistan as already the deal and work is in progress...
American CIVIL NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY, if it ever materializes, will only add value and nothing else, we the Pakistani prays that this deal never happens...
Now back to the topic...
How are you going to manage your energy needs???
Henni bhai,
Do you even know what you are talking about?
China itself is buying HUGE numbers of nuclear plants from USA. Chinese do not have capacity and the technology to build modern large plants.
The ones we have from China rarely meet their full production, and their contribution to the Pakistan's total demand is like a drop in the ocean.
France will never sell anything to Pak until
1- there is a BIG GREEN FLAG from the USA.
2 - We assure the USA that we will never have namak haram Qadeer type people in our program.
3 - We have $3 billion per plant cash (or IMF/WB loan) or USA gives us that much cash.
Bhai, why do you want to live the life without knowledge?
That's true. But it should not be made a general statement. There are projects that we can do by ourselves
and then
there are projects that we cannot do by ourselves especially due to the funding shortfall.
How about listing "other countries" here and whatever it means by "cooperate" in their context?
The projects we cannot do ourselves aren't going to be helped by the Indians... If we need help, we should seek out advanced countries. Certainly not India.
Perhaps you would like to list the projects that would require India to complete?
Other regional partners..
Iran, Afghanistan, CHINA, all of Central Asia, the recent train service to Turkey will include Turkey aswell...
Why is this so difficult to comprehend?
I would remind you that big projects have been completed without Indians... From the dam projects started early in Paks birth to the most recent Gawadar port, we didnt need assistance of any kind from India.
Infact, considering where Pakistan was at birth in terms of infrastructure and economy as compared to India, Pakistan has done immensly well in building its industrial base and creating an infrastructure that in many ways is better hen and comparable too regional countries. And all this without help from India...
I would make the argument that on the contrary, India's influence has been a drain, not a boon in any stretch of the imagination. Whatever we have gained we have gained despite India.
The issue was not of asking help from India, of course India cannot help pakistan in their infrastructure/projects. The issue is that of Pakistan not taking advantage of the market right next to it.
But as of now, Iran is surprised by the lack-luster attitude shown by Pakistan in the energy agreements between Iran & pakistan..
Iranian ambassador to Pakistan has expressed surprise that an offer to supply over 1,000 megawatts of electricity from Iran has not been fast-tracked. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in December 2008 between the two countries, however Ambassador Mash’allah Shakeri has complained that no one in Pakistan has tried to move the issue forward.
The same is also largely true of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline. but at the core there is a different problem: such projects need external financing but money for Iran-Pakistan deals is hard to come by unless the Americans give the nod. So Pakistan is instead pushing for stepped-up help from the Americans in the energy sector here. The government wants money for dams, help with solving circular debt, technical assistance for drawing up a long-term energy plan and investment in the power distribution and generation sector.
The Americans have the financial and technical resources, yes, but they are cautious about the impact they can have because they are aware of a more fundamental truth:you can draw up a long-term energy plan for the country and help pay for it, but you can’t guarantee that Pakistani governments will keep their focus and ensure that change for the better will be realised. If there is one thing that all Pakistani governments have had in common it is a singular lack of understanding for the need for long-term planning. Yes, they often make the right noises, but the results speak for themselves.
Iran doesn’t have parts to run its own refineries, then how can they help us build all the infrastructure needed to get the electricity from Western Iran (their main centers) all the way to Central Pak.
These projects are not just “the play of guddi gudda”, that one little boy and one little girl can get together and have a make believe wedding.
This is serious business, with lots of international suppliers, and international finance institution to guarantee the payments.
It is pathetic to see how our educated elite could easily trivialize Mega projects worth $billions and talk childishly about them as if you are going to get a toffee from the corner bakery store.
Actually you should do your homework before even looking into anything
please visit these sites then seek an educated guy in your area ask him to explain it to you ( i am really busy these days that is why cannot explain things to you)
It may be a pleasure for you while sitting in the West to give us lullabies in the name of google and 2 years old news about China to us who are baking in 20 hours daily load shedding.
