Why is the gas load shedding being done only in Punjab?

**LAHORE: Sui Northern Gas (SNG) announced a three-month gas load shedding plan for Punjab on Saturday. According to the schedule, there will be three-day a week load shedding for industries and two-day a week load shedding for CNG stations. The schedule will be implemented from today. **
The management of the SNG said that the decision was taken after the closure of the Zamzama gas field to ensure gas supply for houses.
During the load shedding period, fertilizer factories will face 45 days of gas load shedding whereas industrial and commercial customers will face gas load shedding till February next year.
According to the management, factories across Punjab have been divided into four zones.
Multan and Bahawalpur industries will experience gas load shedding from 29th to 30th October. The factories of Lahore, Shaikhupura and Faisalabad region will experience gas load shedding from 1st to 3rd of November. All CNG stations across Punjab will close for two days a week.
However, the Punjab CNG association said that the decision was taken without their advise and they would protest the decision by going on strike if it is not withdrawn. —DawnNews

Supply is limited of course, but targeting the industrial sector is rather short sighted and honestly very bad for our economy. Target the family homes during the day. A factory that can not work, means labourers can not get work, which means they can not get paid. If they can not get paid, they can't buy food for their family. If they can't buy food for their family, their children will go hungry and may drop out of school to go and find work. On the flip side the family of the shop keeper who sells food stuffs can not sell his wares etc. You get the picture.
The impact of shutting down one factory is huge. Shutting down an entire industry is catastrophic for our economy.

I guess you have only noticed now because there is a load shading in Punjab. Gas load-shedding has been done for quite long in some area of Baluchistan (where the gas is produced :smack: ) and Interior Sindh (I personally know about this as my ant still lives near Shikarpure) .
Having said that, I totally disagree with the load shedding in industrial zones. If Govt absolutely have to do this, they can do it in residential area during day times. Factories should be the last one to get effected as it will also effect the pay/salaries of the poor people.
and finally NO. NO province should exploit others if it has one resource. Its true for gas and its true for wheat too.

Industries in Faislabad, Sialkot, Gujrat are producing most of the Foreign Exchange and/or jobs which ( as per international economic standards are vital for economies - i hope you understand this) give people buying power and the govt gets its TAXES... now if these industries are not at work..how do you think the country is going to work..
It is PPPs govt in Balochistan..what he holding them to provide Gas to the region??? I suppose you would ( like always blame agencies for that) whereas, reality lies that these utilities are provided to the regions where the installation cost can be covered over the period of time and there are enough users to consume the capacity...
To get GAS and other utilitis to remote areas require planning and implementation of the same, develop industrial states, provide incentives, security and other related infrastructure with suitable taxation the investors/industrialists will be there...but that is only done by govt who has intention to look after the common man of the country and not by the govt who just look after the maths, number game, foriegn masters to stay and/or hold the govt...
Gawadar and many other cities of Baluchistan are still without gas.
its the same every where, Australia which is a first world country, most of the resources (iron, copper and gold is present in western Australia which is Australia's Balochistan) but most of these resources are used by the government in the Eastern states (NSW and Victoria) since they are more populous, and more industries are setup there. So there is nothing new in Pakistan, but the priorities of the government are misconstrued, they have shifted all the shortage to one province and then for them household gas is more important as compared to industry...

It's funny how some people are excited that Induestries are suffering in Punjab. I heard in a talkshow that almost 80000 people have lost jobs in Punjab alone because of this load shedding and some sick people are happy. Don't these blind ppp followers ( or just Punjab haters) understand that those evil Punjabi industrialists or establishment aren't going to suffer, it's actually millions of poor people who will lose there income.

Very good point Ali. It's a very good example, most of the resources actually come from Western Australia and hardly anyone knows the city exists. Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane are all more developed than Perth. People just need propaganda and someone to blame for their problems. In Pakistan, almost everyone exploits others which is sad but it's not likely to change unless people get educated. It's sad that some individual are happy that Indutries are suffering in Punjab.
People are equally suffering in whole Pakistan and they all need some hope and help and this government is full of corrupt idiots and they obviously learn their lessons from master Zardari.
