Ganguly paved way for Yuvraj. Yuvi’s injury got Kaif in. So some other batsman has to go now to make room for the two most deserving middle order Indian batsmen. Who would it be? I think the axe will next fall on VVS Laxman. He has enjoyed a fair bit of time without an important innings.
Sehwag
Jaffer
Dravid
Tendulkar
Yuvraj
Kaif
That would be my ideal line-up.
Laxman can be called up everytime India plays Australia.
If I had to make the decision - I would do a toss-up between Tendulkar and Laxman.
Dont get me wrong - Tendulkar still scores a century here and a half-century there.....but he ABSOLUTELY NEVER DELIVERS when India needs him the most...How I wish he could once bat for one full day to save India from a certain defeat or help India someday to a miraculous victory.
Laxman , on the other hand, is a stylish bastman but a very inconsistent one. He is also a very Lax Man on the field.
Sachin is not going anywhere. At least he will NEVER be dropped. Indian public raised hell on omission of Ganguly. You can just imagine what will happen if Sachin...
I think it has to be VVS.
Speaking of Sachin playing an important innings that would account to a win or at the very least save the team from a defeat...the day is tomorrow.
Sachin will stay, No Doubt.....He can still save the day tomorrow, Only he can, even though he hasnt done that too many times in his career, only he can do it tomorrow...
England will bat for 5 overs tomorrow, USe heavy roller to make the crack grow and then 20-30 runs they will declare, i wanna see 4 slips, 2 gully's for the ret of the 80 overs tomorrow
When did he do that in the past to make you think he can do so now.
The closest he came to doing that was in the Madras Test against Akram's Pak Team.
Even then, he threw away his wicket after taking India to the brink of victory and India of course end up losing the match.
India will definitely go for a draw. Dravid will be the key player on the final day.
If India will be saving the match, it will be due to Dravid's effort.
^^ True that, BUT he is the only one who can in my mind,(I Mean sachin, FKhan, i was eplying to Some1's thread with my arrow sign, Aur Tum hey Apnee post ghusaadeee) or the new kid Jaafar, coz he'd put an extra in to get a spot in team, also he is not known to the Eng bowlers, so they have done less of HW on him than on others, know his weakness less than they know about Dravid's or LAxman's.
Laxman is a class player, just gets under looked because of Dravid, Sachin and Sehwag. Kaif is a new boy. Laxman is way better than him.
Sachin does have a great track record in Nagpur, scoring at the averge 105 but I don't know whether it will be enough. England is confident and will go for the kill. Someone from the Indian batting line up needs to play an aggressive inngs to take the pressure off. Sachin has not played an inng like that for a while. Sehwag can do that but has he mutured enough to play a crucial inngs like this???? I tell you England bowlers are smelling blood and they'll be ready for the Indian batsmen.
I dont think it will be enough. He has 2 high scoring knocks against Zimbabwe there and one against Windies back in 1994. Against Australia he failed there coupe of years ago scoring 8 and 2.
The way the match has been so far, I have no doubt that England bowlers can do the same. India will definitely be on the back foot and they can only blame themselve for that.
good point, i remember watching him score double 100 against ZIm, him and dravid got double100 in that inning…its a small ground…and rungs get scored fast…i still think India can pull off a draw.
It will be Laxman and Kumble in that order.
Laxman is really very inconsistant. He may be playing for his career tomorrow. If he fails again then Yuvi will take his place for sure.
Kumble will be another spot in danger. Mainly because of his age and slowly he is losing his touch. He had a failed trip of Pakistan and has not done anything in this test match. Plus Piyush chawla is knocking on the door.
Harbhajan might escape just because age is on his side and there is no replacement in sight. Shahid Nadeem is shaping up well though.
I dont see the criteria here to drop Gangs its only bad mouth with the coach and in result he is chopped and waved good night from International cricket.
If its age then we all know who are the next players in line. Tendulkar, Laxman(is going to make way for Yuvraj in the 2nd test but in the long run it will be Raina who will replace him) and Dravid should sign off after the world cup.
