Musharraf announces Rs one million cash prize for Inzamam-ul-Haq
(Updated at 2100 PST)
ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf has congratulated the Pakistan team for beating India in the fourth One Day International match at Ahmedabad and has also announced a Rs one million cash prize for captain of the Pakistan team Inzamam-ul-Haq.
President Musharraf talked with the captain of the Pakistan team and the team coach on phone and congratulated them and the team on winning the match. The President said that the whole team put a lot of hard work to achieve the target and their effort is praiseworthy.
Musharraf said that the team played brilliantly to achieve the 315 runs target and the whole nation is proud of the team, which under the leadership of captain Inzamam-ul-Haq won the match. The President expressed the hope that all players would also display a tremendous performance in the net two matches. It should be clarified that Pakistan won a thrilling match against India by three wickets on Tuesday to level the series by 2-2 at Ahmedabad.
I really feel sorry for Ganguly. he is a brave guy facing some tough time...
and, as usual his nation has decided to betray him..but what do you expect from his nation...they killed their own Bappu Mahathama Gandhi.....so who the hec is Ganguly.....
Stop taking cheapshot on Indians because of this. Pakistanis are not saint either. We know Akram’s home was stoned because of 96 WC QF. We also know how many criticism Inzi faced due to his WC 2003 failure. Can we say that what can we expect from a nation who killed Bhutto.
It is in nature of supporters of Subcontinent to criticize. Frankly I dont see anything wrong with it either. Desi cricketter should learn when to take Break or just hang the boot. barring Imran and Gavasker no one did it gracefully. Players are also to be blamed. Ganguly should have taken 4-5 months break from International cricket and sorted out problem. I hardly see any Aussies or English player hanging in there if they are in bad patch for too long.
Tamil nadu's batsman S. Sriram is replacing Ganguly. I dont think he will be given a chance for the last two one dayers. Its just a cosmetic replacement. Dravid has been elevated to be the Captain and Sehwag his deputy. Kumble is back in the squad for the last two one dayers.
It is tough for a “captain” to take a break. Which non-desi captain has taken a break (or given a break) and restored as captain when he gained his form back? It certainly is not the time for Ganguly’s retirement, he is going thru a bad patch and we are lucky that he has not clicked against us (so far).
(Reuters) In a bold move, The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to take the blame for India's slow over-rate in the fourth ODI played between the two countires in Ahmedabad yesterday. PCB's CEO, Shehryar Khan acknowledged that it was indeed Pakistani batsmen who took extra time to get ready for deliveries, asked for too many refreshments and fresh pair of gloves.
ICC's Ehsan Mani being of Pakistani origin is said to have listened to the appeal very carefully. He will be making an announcement on the matter shortly.
