That was just supporting argument. Main reason is that he batted well. He was the only one who scored in both inning and on crucial times. His defence looked solid. Dont pick the part of statement which suites you.

Well.. with his limitations I doubt Ganguly would ever be considerd as test opener. You are right about Gambhir though… He has not dont anything great and thats why there is push to get Waseem Jaffer back in team at his place.

F&B, you are showing typical desi emotions about a player who is most definitely over the hill.
Ganguly does not figure in the future scheme of things besides the fact that he continues to be suspect against fast bowling. Plus he is not physcially fit (No, I am not saying this because Chappel said it). Why do we need him when we have better replacements. Should he be included just because his name is "Sourav Ganguly" who has scored over 15,000 runs in the past.
This is the same desi mentality which saw Kapil Dev, Azharuddin etc play way past their prime.
In this regard, I like the Australian mind-set. No emotions, no care for reputation or the BS about respecting a GREAT player etc....just pick a side based on cricketing reasons.
Consider my opinion radical, but I will say this .....if Tendulkar also does not perform on a consistent basis, his place in the side should be questioned too.

I dont care about Ganguly or anyone else. I was first to shout out loud when he was selected for chennai because it was not right.Go check my thread. Now, once we have given him chance and he delivered then we drop him like hot potato.
I am talking about inconsistancy in approach of selectors. They are buch of jokers. if the reason is that he doesnt fit into future scheme then say so and move on. What is the point in saying that 'Door is not closed on him? Dont you tell me that there was no politics involved when he was selected and it is same politics why he is dropped.
Dont support these idiot Selectors just because they did what you expected them to do. Show some of your Gora skin there .

Just tell me this. Considering that Sehwag is back, who would you have dropped from the playing eleven in favor of Ganguly. Please get into Kiran More shoes and tell me.

It was not Kiran More who selected Gangu for Chennai.
It was the Sharma bandhus and Pranab Roy with the blessing of Godfather Dalmiya of course who got Gangu in the team. (the selection comittee was divided 3-2).

It doesnt matter. You were not in the room. It is not the person but the KURSI that matters. It was selection committee who did it and Kiran more was jumping out of his pant to show his new all rounder to media and the world. If Kiran more didnot agree why didnot he put his papers. Once they have given him opportunity to play and he delivered then keep him.. Why this doesnt get into you f’ed up head.

How can you not get it ?
The facts are the following :
(1)Only 11 players can be selected to play.
(2) It would be too much of an "insult" to keep a GREAT player like Gangu in the reserves.
(3) There is no other player in the playing 11 who can be dropped to make way for Gangu.
Based on the above situation, the only solution is :
DROP GANGU...and so he was dropped.

Why dont you get that the selection committee was different then. Kiran More is the chair person but he has to live with the decision of the majority.
Did it occur to you that the 3 people who selected Gangu have since been sacked.

What I got from the discussion is that Some1 is approving discarding of Ganguly because he was added in team due to biased selection committee, now that committee (or specific people) has been sacked its okay to discard Ganguly, while FnB is saying that previous committee added him due to biased views/politics, new committee has gone overboard perhaps to prove that they are not biased and discarded Ganguly when he was in fine form.
