We will keep track of Ganguly’s performance and hope he scores a fifty or two and may be take a wicket or two (I heard he is now a Test class All-rounder, hehehe) against SL and South Africa. The reason I want him to do good enough to make the cut for the tour to Pakistan in January. After all, there is no better sight in cricket then watching Ganguly facing a barrage of bouncers from Shoaib Akhtar. Oh poor thing.

In order to face "barrage of" bouncers from Akhtar, it is a typical way of enjoying sub-continent cricket, especially by Pakistanis. Of course, if Ganguly scores in the manner(s) you mentioned (fifty or two, wicket or two - hardly an exaggeration, I assume), he will only have tough time on his hands if Akhtar continues his current fiery form (Bowling/Batting in England Tour). If the latter goes on his usual (or is it unusual now?) day-old habits, we (hopefully) will still get to see Akhtar against Sachin/Dravid (not to mention, several hundred "OMG!~!Ban Akhtar%$%$" threads straight away)
Recent performance of Akhtar implies that he is likely to score pretty good with the bat, too.
I am betting Akhtar gets higher runs than Ganguly in the entire series. :D

Just a quick comment here, I know it is off-topic: Is it possible for someone to upload the Ind/SL Test Match and provide a link here (much like how Brother Teaser provides with his day-to-day services)? I am sure alot of folks, including me, will be grateful if we get to see some of the highlights, especially Vaas's Maidens.

A set back in the campaign occurred today when Indian Selection COmmittee DROPPED Ganguly for the third test against Sri Lanka. I was thinking his lacklustre 40 and 39 might get him through but it didn't. Indians are putting Yuvraj at #6 for good and giving Waseem Jaffar a chance at the top order.
Oh boy... but the ray of hope is that Kiran More said that doors on Ganguly are not completely shut. So he might be considered for tour to Pakistan! Let's keep our fingers crossed.

^ Aren't you happy that at least Agarkar continues to find a place in the team...and from all indications, he will most likely also figure in the Indian team for Pakistan.

It is not. The motive behind his exclusion may have been political but strictly from a cricketing standpoint it is not unjust.
Including him in the team at the expense of Mohammad Kaif was a mistake in the first place. It makes no sense now to have Yuvraj sit out in his favor.
He should really have been dropped during the Pak tour.
Also if he was included as a “batting allrounder” as we were all led to believe, why wasn’t he given the ball.

Yep…he actully played very good this time and should have been retained. He looked solid against Murali and I was very impressed with the way he applied himself. His on field behaviour was good. He was enggaged in many discussions on field.
They didnot drop him when they should have. And Now they dropped him when they shoudnot have.
Truely..Selectors are bunch of jokers.

^ I dont know who calls the shots regarding the batting order (captain, coach or selectors) but I would have liked Gangu to volunteer opening in place of Dravid (in the 1st innings) or/and Pathan (in the 2nd).

I just checked the line-up and discovered that Kaif wasn’t in there, so your post seems just about right as he is an extremely talented player and needs to stay in the team. One thing does come up though; Indian management has been complaining about the opening slot, why don’t they just send Ganguly as opener instead of Gautum Gambhir? Gambhir hasn’t done anything extraordinary to merit his place in the side either.
