You forgetting some thing, Jumiat ulema islam and Jamaiat ulema e Hind are political outlooks of Deoband. Deobandi ulema were infact quite active in politics during colonial times. Not just that, major movements were started by them like khilafat movement, hijrat movement and tablighi movement (which was infact started in response to Shuddhi’ and 'Sangathan of hindus.)

Interesting. so, there was no tableegh before shudhi movement?

But I heard Bhagti was a counter movement to preaching movement by Sufis.
