As a school of thought , deoband is older than Bareilly’s which was founded in 1901 by Ahmad Reza Breilwi while former was founded in 1864. To an extent you are right, wahabi movement in Arabia inspired Deoband to free the islam in India from Bid’aa, thats it. Then there is also a list of differences between ahl-hadith and Deobandi.
Those who didnt subscribed to Deoband, was labelled bareilwi in 20th century. Fiqa wise, both deobandi and bareilwi are following the same hanafi fiqa.
