All valid points. What’s bill gonna do about it? Go down to Pakistan and beat up Mushy? Doubt it. Rather, perhaps push his connections for some god-for-saken sanction that will only serve to harm ALL pakistanis, not just the corrupt.
I think some NGO’s get blinded by their cause. Evil or not, it is careless in this case to this particular audience…no matter how noble the cause seems.
What they do need to do is clarify their position and spell out exactly how they expect the so-called “global” community to help out. More often than not, it’s a foreign power exerting pressure on the Pakistan government…such pressure is usually in the form of threats, either economic or otherwise. NOT the way to go…you don’t help Pakistanis by having others threaten it. And there is no such thing as a targeted threat at this level, so it’s not as if a personal threat can be made to the corrupt cronies that run the place.
If the ends is to perpetrate even more injustice, then it doesn’t. We’re in the ugly realm of geopolitics now, not domestic politics…such is the beast that gets poked when you run to other countries for “help”.
I don’t want to see the whole bloody nation get raped using the rape of Mai as part of a pretense for anti-Pakistan maneuverings. Justice can only come from within, anyway…I have no idea how she can get justice outside the country where her tormentors reside.
Whatever the case, it would have been nice if but ONE person pointed out the inappropriateness of getting a reward from ol Billy Boy…
