gaming pc (expert thread)

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

didn’t check pro :frowning:

Actually ddr3 were present 3 years back on graphics card but desktops memmory was rare and expensive, remember getting gskill 4gb for 120 dollars in 2009 from us,here in india it was 6-7k, now the price is 30-40 dollars.my current 570 gtx uses ddr5.graphics card is always generation faster in memmory compare to desktop, fastest one is XDR used in consoles (xbox360,ps3)

I think still u can play most of them with low-med settings .since resolution would be even lower on pro.best thing would be download call of duty black ops,its lesser hardware demanding game and still looks good, if u haven’t played call of duty before, download call of duty 4. best in the series, 4 years old still looks good, should be handled by ur mac

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

I checked the macrumours guide and you may be right, since it mentions NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256 MB GDDR3 memory. What is the difference there? Is DDR2 and DDR3 like the processor (dual and tri core) or more like the RAM where DDR3 has higher bus speed.

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

just checked there will be defference, especially when AA is turned on.
first download call of duty 4.

awesome game.just try to run it without changing any settings.download fraps keep it open while playing.check on top of screen there should be some kind of number.
if it is somewhere around 20-30 fps ur good to go.if it falls below 20 go to setting(graphics advanced),use the option optimal settings.if there isn’t such option, change everything manually to medium

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

Nice, but PC gaming is so frustrating. After reading all these pages and technical jargon about graphic cards and what not, I’ll stick to my High Definition gaming on PS3. Plus there are some awesome games on PS3 which are not available on PC. Games like God of War 3.

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

not really
even i use to think the same, you don’t need to be an expert and do all the overclocking stuff
you can pretty muchmanage with an 2 year old graphics card like 280 gtx on a first gen core i5 cpu which should be 3x powerful then ps3.
especially if u want to play at 1080p mode with 60 fps,ps3 games runs at 720p mode some of them even lower but upscaled which makes it look good plus not to forget applying Anti Aliashing/MSAA,new feautres like tesslation direct x11.
to use this options again you don’t need to be some expert, just go to game option u need to select everything from normal to high setting,it will auto confrig everything to max settings.

to see the defference try multiplatform game running on pc @1080p and 60 fps with max settings game looks completely defferent compare to ps3,check the new battlefield 3 videos it looks stunning on pc

UR right about software none can match sony there games list.they just keep on delivering every year

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

I guess what I wanted to say is I hate keyboard and a mouse. I am a joystick and console person. Though, it is good on you if you use a PC to play.

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

^^

ps:i think it’s better for you stick with console, with awesome library, stupid part on me for suggesting pc gaming :stuck_out_tongue:

i play with xbox 360 controller on pc,though most of time getting killed when playing agains’t someone with mouse for multiplayer games

Re: gaming pc (expert thread)

Today I got me a new mouse.

A razer Lachesis 5600dpi !!!

It feels a bit strange because I am not used to big mice. Anyways I think it will take some to adjust. But the quality and feature set is amazing. 7ft long cable, gold platted USB, 1ms response time and 1000Hz Polling rate.
