Anyone had gallbladder issues in pregnancy? or do you know someone who had it? how did it go?
any changes to the diet? activity etc?

ppl with gallstone should avoid fatty and fried food, should be physically active, esp walks etc. I know someone who had gallstone during pregnancy, I would say such ppl should not even think about having a surgery done during pregnancy IMO, this women I know had a miscarriage afterwords (sorry to scare you) but if it is too big and can be a hazard to pregnant woman's or her baby's health then kind of have no choice.

you know whats sad, I have been eating very healthy thid pregnancy.. just a pakora here and there during Ramadan but nothing like big fatty meals.. my snacks are fruits and vegetables! I have aversion for sweet stuff so not eating cakes/pies etc.. and still ended up with gall stones!!
I believe I will not have a surgery but I still have to see the surgeon since he will help me decide the route to go!! For me the baby's safety and health comes first and since we are in the last stretch anyway, I am hoping it will go by smooth!

Inshallah all will be well. I have a gallstone too, it is alomost 18mm so quite big, I didn't know I had one until beg. of this year I went for physical here in india and they do the whole ultrasound, that how I founf out. Now I don't know if I had this when I was pregnant, I would like to believe no because canadian docs are prett good too, but there is a slight chance I had it while I was pregnant and nobody noticed(my obstetrician was lousiest doc I have ever met)I love sweets, although we don't eat much fried/oily stuff.
WHen I eat what I am not supposed to eat, I do get dull heavy somewhat achy feeling :( waiting to go back to canada and remove it inshallah.

I was diagnosed with gallstone when I was pregnant with my son. just avoid fatty food ,and INSHAALLHA evry thing will be fine

I dont eat butter, cheese, meat etc anyway.. what vegetables will be fatty food?
I do crave dhai bhallay very often during this pregnancy but I guess I wont eatthem since they have fried dumplings in them.. april, what was yoru diet during pregnancy?
Dosachick.. they didnt diagnose me with one until I was admitted in the hospital with the severe pain along the sides of my abdomen.. up until now we kept thinking it was a round ligament pain until I just couldnt take it anymore, i swear I felt like I was going in labor, thats how painful it was.. I have had two ultrasounds, they didnt' diagnose me with gall stones at all!!

GTG, my friend had a gallstone during her pregnancy and had to have it removed. The procedure was very successful and she had a very normal pregnancy and delivery.

I would say eat as many fruits and vegetables as you want...try to avoid outside food. Sometimes I think the wired and extreme nausea I had could be because of this stone. Try not to focus too much on it, unless yours is god forbid inflamed/infected, inshallah it will be fine you can always tackle it after you gave birth.
Some ppl go through entire life without knowing they have a gal stone.

Nikki.. they gave me morphine after 6 hours of stabbing pain in my abdomen, shoulder, lower back, nausea, etc.. it happened Saturday night, I had two doses of morphine since then and I feel like I am still high on it!!
the midwife has told me to take Motrin if I feel the pain again but my husband is very against it since ibuprofens are not to be used during the third trimester!! Alhamdulillah I didnt have any pain since the morphine and IV so I dont know whats gonna happen if, god forbid, there is another attack!! I dont intend to take ibuprofen(motrin)!!
dosachick..I eat a lot of fruit and I had a severe nausea/vomiting for first 17 weeks and then it went away! I wasnt eationg anything at that ime, let alone fatty food! since then I have been munching on carrots and cherries (totally obsessed with teh two) and the normal everyday food.. we cook with olive oil and that too very lil.. I cant eat red meat etc so its not an issue.. I will probably need to switch to fat free milk though because lately I have been having cereal and whole milk for breakfast!

I hear that gallstones are common in pregnancy as the body slows down and the gallbladder cannot empty out the excess cholesterol. Also, the extra hormones slow down digestion. Surgery isn't usually done in the third or first trimesters unless someone has multiple attacks, so docs recommend a lowfat diet and a totally bland one! I'm sure your docs have given something to you. Maybe go for nutrition rich soups so that are low in fats but high in everything else you need at this time....daal without tarka, grilled chicken breasts...stuff like that...

can you take tylenol for your pain? i'm surprised at the motrin recommendation from your midwife- advil and its like are strictly forbidden during pregnancy from what i've read.

sgc.. I know I read teh same thing!! read my blog, i had another episode last nite and the midwife on call said DONOT take motrin!! I am soo frustrated right now!!!

dosa.. I had another one last nite.. I didnt go to ER because I didnt want them to put me on morphine again and the midwife on call was strictly against the motrin which my heart wasnt in it anyway!!it was a painful night but after a while it got better.. I am seeing the doc in couple of hours!!

Inshallah you and baby will be fine. My friend had the same problem, she was on hydrocodene until the end of the preg. She was told to have the surgery done earlier in the preg or wait until she is done. She waited and delivered a healthy baby. Her baby is a month old now she will have the surgery done.

GTG, please read surah Yaseen and blow over a jug of water. Drink from that water all day. Replenish. Trust me you will find relief inshaAllah

I am having first very painfull gallstone attack 
thanks to eid food and binging, I always forget that I have this issue. I went online to check what to do(after having 2 motrins and anti-acid, which didn’t work) someone suggested to have 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar mixed in half cup water. I had it about 20 minutes ago and feeling much better, atleast the tightness and the queezy pain is almost 50% gone thanks to allah (for internet and ACV :)) try that GTG, hope it will help you and just check if you can have it during pregnancy, I would think so since it is natural…let me know if it worked.
Right now feeling better slowly by the minute…

dosa…the surgeon has told me to avoid anything and everything that looks good until the delivery time… and later he has me scheduled for gall bladder removal.. for now diet is the only way to go!! I will definitely keep this remedy in my mind.. he also recommended apple juice and plenty of water!
