Funny Frustrating IT Stories

As an IT support person i have lots of funny & frustrating & irritating stories. Most of the time problem is between the keyboard and the chair but some how it turns out to be IT’s fault:bummer:
I will be posting few of my stories not now but later for sure. In the mean time why dont you guys flood this thread with your stories:sunnyboy:

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

Maybe not relevant but the other day I was annoyed and spent 30 mins cursing my Uni's system after I couldn't log in when I found out I had actually changed my password myself and forgotten it

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

While working at CP Rail…
Guy calls to SD all pissed and mad because when he called day before someone from SD told him to buy wireless router if he wants to use wifi on his company asset. This guy goes and buys $100+ wireless router( i am guessing he was conned in to buying VPN router) sets it up. Next day when he tries to connect to his home wifi he cant seems to find his wifi SSID in the list.
Any guesses what happend?

Janab was in Super 8 motel 250 Km away from his home and yes as i said earlier it was service desk fault that they made him buy router thats useless for him.:smack2:

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

Wth, serious?! Thats sick!

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

My boss at that job said the same thing till i showed him …
HE was also spying on females @ work. Burst mode pics of ladies parking thir car and walking towards the building. having lunch in lunch room.
Sometimes whenever i read any such news i feel like calling the cop who took my statement and ask about the sicko.
He was trying to be very over claver by making folders inside folders and naming them Audit 2011, Final report and what not…clearly underestimating DMD:devil:

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

i once broke the head of my headfone and got lodged in the socket. i took it to my University’s Tech Centre…they asked me to take it to the manufacturer or the store where i bought it…well, the store people told me that since my laptop was just a month over the warranty period. so, in order to fix it, i have to cough up about $250…they justified the cost by saying that they have to take the whole laptop apart…i simply refused to pay that kinda big buck for a manufacturing flaw…why do they have such a design that they have to take the laptop all apart to dislodge a broken head of the headfone into the audio jack.

frustrated, i came home and i took a sewing needle and slowly but steadily yank the broken and stuck part of the headfone out of the audio jack…VOILA!

i saved $250…why are these technicians so dumb?

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

^^

i worked for Geek Squad for few months. We were forced to sell hardware to people who book us for service calls(lie to them tell them their current wifi router is not speedy enough..ohh u r a tech u can think of convincing lie). We were instructed to sell$300 service package instead of $100 package.
KKF: Most of the time its the store policy not tech. Faulty designs...they know if they built it it will sell.

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

Oh MAN!! I love this thread!! :e6:

Ok, so my fav story…

Not exactly IT, but I was doing over the phone support while I worked at Geek Squad. So I get a call from a customer who is FUMING!! Like absolutely P-O’d! His monitor, keyboard and mouse aren’t working.
I went through the basic steps, all wires plugged in, etc etc.

After him yelling at me and saying “Do I sound handicapped to you!? I know how to use a computer! I know it’s all supposed to be plugged in!!”, this is the convo that followed:

Me: Sir, is your computer on?
Him: Well how the heck would I know that?! My monitor isn’t on!
Me: Is there a fan sound coming from the computer? Does it sound like how it normally does when it’s on?
Him: … Well, no?
Me: :smack: Sir, would you please press the power button on the front of the computer and tell me what happens?
Him: hangs up

:rotfl:

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

TRUE, and that's why i don't call anyone anymore...i found this Korean guy who works from his home and he is very good tech and on top of that he is very honest...he'll tell you the cost upfront and will not do anything unnecessary...
**
...he said that it was his mom's deathbed advice..."to serve people and not take advantage of them!**" :)

great advice indeed...God bless her soul. :)

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

lol…it does happen…there are morons out there…they deserved to be taken advantage of for being morons! lolz

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

Entertaining thread :D

Re: Funny Frustrating IT Stories

Sure! I can help you with your computer, that’ll be $250 to diagnose what’s wrong. but don’t worry, we’ll print out a list of what I think I can fix.

Then you can sign up for our $199/ $299 program. But don’t worry! That covers up to 3 computers in your household!
Oh did I mention that the plan only covers labor? If you need parts or data back up, that’s extra.

But don’t worry! I wont tell you about the extra charges until you’ve already signed up and I’ve already got your computer on my bench!! :k:

And no charge if we can’t fix it.
Its not fixed and that’ll be $50.
This is standard checkup fee and even if I bring my computer for checkup I have to pay this “fee”

Crooked munafiqs a can make so much money in IT retail and service
