International Urdu Mushaira/Fundraiser for Pakistan Earthquake Victims will be held on Saturday, November 26 at 7:00 PM at the Shahnawaz Restaurant in Lakewood, California.
Participants include Iftikhar Arif (of Kasauti/PTV fame, among many other things), Dr. Peerzada Qasim, Abbas Tabish (Pakistan), Ashfaq Hussain (Canada), Dr. Asim Wasti (England), Asad Rizvi (France), Nadir Durrani, Masood Qazi (Dallas) and many other famous poets.

Islamic Relief has been working in Pakistan since 1992, has a full-time staff of over 100 in the country. Islamic Relief has three full-time offices near the earthquake-affected areas in Islamabad, Neelum Valley, and Muzaffarabad, and has 100 staff on the ground throughout Pakistan. In addition, Islamic Relief's emergency response team was able to reach the affected area within one hour after the earthquake hit. This team was set up to respond to the earthquakes in Pakistan (2002) and Iran (2003).
Islamic Relief has emergency programs previously set up in the area due to the ongoing conflict in the region. This includes evacuation plans, an emergency response unit, first aid and bunkers constructed to protect citizens.
Islamic Relief staff were on the ground within hours of the disaster, and immediately conducted a needs-assessment. Islamic Relief Pakistan's healthcare center in Neelum Valley began receiving and treating the injured soon after the earthquake. There are more than ten medical clinics operated by Islamic Relief in the earthquake-affected areas
