From the little research I did because of this thread, there seems to be a difference in opinion with scholars on whether or not thighs can be shown. Maybe those guys had a different belief.

thighs start right from the …err .. ok you know where they start from .. so now we can all wear hot pants without any problem (at least according to those scholars :D)
