I am getting a FTA receiver soon. I am extremely dumb when it comes to FTA. Please guide me in every possible direction as I am will be hiring a guy to do my Satellite installation. What do i need to tell him ? How Do I watch other Pakistani channels ? Please help thank you

You need 110 Dish Network (PPV and US channels) and 91.3 Nimiq Bell Express View dishes. On DN, you can watch all the cricket DN shows on Sport specialty channels that are PPV. On Bell however, you can watch Cricket on CBN or CommenWealth Broadcast Network, they show cricket from DN, DirectTV and other sources. They make sure Canadian watch cricket on this channel regardless of source. There will be a Cricket Plus channel, dedicated for Cricket, launched in USA (DN), but don't know the details.
Desi and all international channels are on 61.5 Dish NetWork satellitte.
However there is no guarentee if these dishes will last till World Cup, as they will most likely be hit during WC.
BTW, do get either Coolsat 6000 or 8000 OR Viewsat Platinum or Extreme. You can buy them online on ebay.

What kind of dish would I need ? Would I need more than the super dish ?
And yes I am def. getting the CoolSat 8000 as I want HD DVR but I do not know what I am going to do for the 2nd reciever, as my 2nd TV is HDTV as well. Any suggestions ?

I am not sure about super dish configuration. However, you should ask your installation technician if it will give you (61.5 or110, 119 and 9.13) with three LNB or motorized solution. If not then consider installing two or three dishes.
For your second receiver either go for CS6K or ViewSat Platinum. If all FTA got hit either CS or VS will come up with the solution first. Last time in summer when FTA was down for 2 months, VS was the first company to have fix for it. The difference between two was more than a month apart. Smaller companies were even two month late in solution. A year earlier it was CS who was first.

All you need is...Also depends what you have.
If you want to catch the Canadian SAT all you need is a Dish 300 with single LNB, hit 82 W and you have CBN plus all the desi channels along with the new cricket channel coming out.
If you want to catch both Dish Network and BEV (Bell Express Vu - Canadian) than you can simply put up 2 dish 300 with single LNB. One hitting 82 W - Canadian, Second hitting 61.5 Dish Network. That will give you Cricket from Dish Network as well as from CBN - Canada.
Let me draw a picture for you with all the combinations that can be used. I am using VS Platinum and hitting 5 SATs, that is 61.5, 110, 119 from Dish Network and 82, 91 from Canada. All on one reciever with a DiSeq switch and SW21. I get about 1500 channels and the only thing I watch is CBN, PTV, ARY, GEO, QTV and sometimes INDV.

Is your installer a desi? How do you get FTA installed? I thought you have to do all the work yourself and lots and lots of reading.
p.s. i pay $76/m for a few desi channels to dish network and I know nothing about FTA.

You are scaring me man. I finally am getting it done and now you telling me this :(. Pretty sad news. What should I do then ? Teaser, I am getting it insalled for free from Dishnetwork with Super dish. After that I am having a local installer ( a friends friend ) whom I am going to pay on the side to do my FTA installation. As I am an illiterate when it comes to that. You really thought I was that stupid to ask a genuine dish installer to do an FTA installation :) heheh... funnny.

all that you can give me. I have superdish with dishnetwork and I am paying $76/m for all regular american channels and ARY and GEO. I can't even get any of the new desi channels (music, indus, qtv, etc) because they are not offered on 121 - not yet anyway. What are my options here?
