all that you can give me. I have superdish with dishnetwork and I am paying $76/m for all regular american channels and ARY and GEO. I can’t even get any of the new desi channels (music, indus, qtv, etc) because they are not offered on 121 - not yet anyway. What are my options here?

You have to put up a dish 300 pointing at 61.5 and buy an FTA receiver. You will have all the desi channels.

and you mean all of them and for free? Why would anyone pay money for these channels then? don't you have to load some software into the FTA receiver to get all the desi channels?

Also, are there DVR type (TiVO) FTA receivers? Can you actually see a schedule of the programs with FTA like you do with Dish?

You load the latest file for the specific receiver...dish updates ur receiver/card through the stream but with fta u have to update it urself. it's not often though if u get a good receiver like a viewsat. it's pretty easy.

dvr u mean PVR? yes viewsat 7000 and sonicview and i blieve there is a coolsat too.. and yes u can see the guide max 7 days.

Well, you can try your luck by going to any dish installer people. Go to yellowpages find any local dish place and call them up. 99.9% they will do it for you.

You need 110 Dish Network (PPV and US channels) and 91.3 Nimiq Bell Express View dishes. On DN, you can watch all the cricket DN shows on Sport specialty channels that are PPV. On Bell however, you can watch Cricket on CBN or CommenWealth Broadcast Network, they show cricket from DN, DirectTV and other sources. They make sure Canadian watch cricket on this channel regardless of source. There will be a Cricket Plus channel, dedicated for Cricket, launched in USA (DN), but don't know the details.

Desi and all international channels are on 61.5 Dish NetWork satellitte.

However there is no guarentee if these dishes will last till World Cup, as they will most likely be hit during WC.

BTW, do get either Coolsat 6000 or 8000 OR Viewsat Platinum or Extreme. You can buy them online on ebay.

Be carefull who you talk to about fta stuff. i have friends who are contractors for dish network. dishnet and direct tv are pissed off about people stealing their channels and they are prosecuting people getting caught with hacked fta recievers. some people have gotten to $100k fine and 5yrs.
they are paying installers to snitch!

Thank you for the advice. I am not getting it done from the same installer of Dish network. Its a private person who doesnt have a shop or anything...

Calm down bro. Owning an FTA unit is completely Legal. I only use it to get the free to air channels. Who's even talking about stealing signal?

I know FTA is legal, but in order to watch free cricket you 'll have to step into illegal/ grey teritory, u know it and i know it.
Its just a word of advise for newbies, i know you all are educated , smart people. here is a good thread, not to scare anyone just be aware that’s all.

^ Thats true even though keeping an FTA is legal but that does not mean you can get free cricket, well unless you put a big dish like 12 feet and try to catch signal from other satellites such as from Middle East or Asia where Cricket is shown free on an FTA channel. But not the ones from Dish, DTV, or Canada because they all are subscription channel not FTA.
