Heard that bridal make-up costs more than Rs 50,000 in certain parlors. New beauty kits are introduced on regular basis.

My Ammi told that in their times (70s and 80s), brides make-up was limited to applying oil on hair… kass ke choti banana and ziada ho

What do you think is the reason for this change? Do people of or era become more conscious or duniya main natural beauty khatam hogai?

on the lighter side, my bro was once telling us that in olden days women used to apply MISSI to whiten their dirty teeth and they used to apply pisa huaa koila in oil [paste] as hair dye. aaaaaaaaaawwwwwww poor ladies!

Missi? darakht ki chhaal? They call it musaag in Sindhi and saraiki and I observed old ladies using that in our childhood. never heard that koile wala tail

missi is a white GLITTERY powder that sticks to any surface so it was hard to come off for say 24 hours or so...i wonder if they were kinda toxic in nature. no tests were done in those days.

i'm sure it didn't come from trees...

It’s not just the bridal make up but u can also get other services included for instance manicure/pedicure, facial, hair dye etc which cost about 20k at least and not more.

like someone said that the wedding day is special for all the girls. And every girl wants to look beautiful on her big day and every girl should also look good there’s no harm in that so today there are parlours that offer all the bridal packages and services in about 20/30k so why do girls go to parlours that charge extra like 50/80k for some reason? Only for the sake of showing off and being able to tell the salons name of people that she got her makeup done from such and such parlour/ makeup artist? u can spend thousands and thousands to look good only for a few hours but you look the way you are no matter what for the rest of your life and you can’t change that.

phiTkirii ke powder jaisa hii hotaa hai magar is meN chamak [glitter] hotaa hai aur it's NOT edible...khaane kii cheez nahiiN hai. it's called MISSI and NOT misry [phiTkari].

Media has played a very vital role in that! Girls on Television, showing them off, wearing makeup, and modern clothes, all these things effected on a Man’s brain, as well as on a woman itself too!! Now, boys, who never knew how a girl can look like wearing makeup in past era due to that SAAT PARDAY, he knows everything and wishes to have a wife like this or that!! 0 figure or blah blah figure, now a boy wont except a girl who has never done her eyebrows or upperlips!! Who has never bleached her face or doesnt wax!! These things were never an issue in our parents era, simplicity was beauty!! now, people around are too much of habitual of seeing, watching fashionable ladies that they dont imagine to have an old-fashioned or simple wife… wo alag baat hay ke shaadi ke BAAD mard chahta hay ke biwi saada rahay

Is phatkari/alum safe? I know some people mix in in their facial masks....

phiTkarii is antiseptic...disposable razor have a phiTkari strip just above the razors.

it's also clarifying agent...whitens amalgamation. used in facial creams.

^Someone suggested alum it to me to incorporate into a toner facial mask that does wonders, but I don't want to turn into a pale ghost, I'm already kinda pale as it is :(
