the diet part reminded me…mere bhi khandan mai…overweight ppl…khatey sub kuch hain…aur sath mai diet coke…ya istiviana sugar 
aur blame mere uper ata hai ke mere ghar wale are gaining weight cuz of me

I hate large spending on weddings...that also to show their status
we dont have extravagance on weddings....mainly cuz of nanajaan ...woh sakht khilaaf hain....cuz fo blessings n all
Forget Pakistan/India...you should see the weddings here in US....it's almost obscene how much craze/pressure there is here now to spend $$$$ on weddings...my cousin is getting married in December, and my Khala & Khaloo are freaking out over the expenses they are occuring (for no reason in my opinion). They feel so much pressure to reciprocate and keep up with others, especially since this is their only daughter. I just don't get it. It wasn't this bad when I got married 14 yrs ago.

There was a fat colleague who was also status conscious. he used to go / order (KFC, Mcdonald, Pizza) for first three weeks of the month and in the last week of the month his order used to like this:
ek double beef biryani (masala kam), ek special zarda (having rus gulla, khoya, badam in it) and a diet coke :D
My brother dont eat from KFC as he is living in a city but he always have his lunch at his office cafetaria @11 INR:D
aur raat der hojaye to dinner udhar muft hi milta hai.............:D

and parents into so much debt cuz of a marriage...cuz of the status and wanting to be better than so n so.Its crazy.

I think instead of spending all your hard earned money with in couple of day where there are no chances of recovery...we should just gamble with that money at least we have few chances of getting our money back

I used to take saalan from my home (I was living alone then). It used to be raat ka salan and used to get roti from tandoor near office. We had a group for 3-4 people, so we enjoyed different desi dishes in lunch.
Sometimes, especially in last days of the month, elite colleague who lost all their money on KFC, etc used to join us and had daal/sabzi with us. But after 1st, they were like 'hum tum ghareebon ko nahin jante' and I used to say 'maine apne inn hathon se khana bana ke tumhe thusswaya tha'.

I like bahir ka khana but as long as its from some nice place…using less oil and you know just nice stuff…but tht s like a lot more expensive than kfc:bummer: but tis not status issue…its just tht …either ghar ka khana (as long as i dont hv to cook it) or baahir ka healthy n nice khana…

Aadmi ko kabhi khud bhi mehnat karni chahiye.. apne hath ka banaya huwa aaloo anda bhi bahir ke pizza se ziada yummy hota hai
