yes its possible only and only if you have a strong relationship with one already. as if one in a relationship will not have any second thoughts developing feeling apart from friendship.
it will be hard if one person doesnt have a relationship. and yes that my personal experience.
when i had chosen one for myself even it was initial stages, every other girl how stunning she may be, they were all my good friends and still are.
when i didnt have that relationship anymore, later platonic friendship some how lead to develop feelings more than friendship.
rest varries person to person and how closer to these friends!

yep they sure can.my best frind is a guy n im a girl. n none of us vein anything more den a plutonic feeling foreachodr... its jus like how 2 girsl wud b besties u knw...... it jus depends on ppl sumtimes to. but im here just to elt u knw yep it sure is possible. but sumties best frinds to end up fallin in love wideachodr too but i ve nt seen dt happenin much personaly.

Yes, girls and guys can be just friends aslong as you keep within the limits and boundaries of friendship there should be no problems.
Problems occur when this relationship is distorted and sometimes you may confuse feelings of friendship for something more. Not always the case but it has been known to occur.
