Asking him to trim it is not a big deal. She is not asking much. Islam says a beard is sunnah, which simply means that the Prophet did it or liked it and this brings you closer to your faith. It’s not Farz! And the shape and style is not dictated by God or the Prophet in fact, so if she suggests trimming, he should do it for her. Because to give your marriage attention IS Farz.
