french chantelle/dentelle sarees

I wanna know people what is the worth of these sarees? some shopkeepers have bought them from dubai and are selling them here for above 20k (just 6yards and no blouse, even the width is max 44 inches and as i am tall i require about 47inches width). i really wanna get one i got french chiffon sarees and that also with full embroidery and they are absolutely breath taking, they are also from dubai and they are worth 12-15k again 6 yards and no blouse. (i’d post pictures after my wedding IA). Now would you ladies tell me is it worth buying the saree for that much? its just soft net n no embroidery or anything. I’d be visiting dubai in november i might as well just get it from there but i wanna have it before my wedding. so suggest me. Thanks a bunch in advance!

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

no one has any opinion? :(

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

I think they're beautiful!! But you would only be able to see the lace if you're willing to show skin.

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

always had a soft spot for Chantilly blouses with chiffon saris!!! would love one in cream, black or peachy pink:)

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

so do you guys think its worth that much?

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

I think its really pretty n feminine
I dunno how much sarees are in pakistan... so i can't say if its worth it or not... but it seems reasonable if converted to dollars...

but then again, money is relative... just because one person thinks its worth it doesn't mean another person will think the same thing

if you love it, then it is worth it :)

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

thanks i just wanted to know that its worth the same around the world or is it that pakistani people are having huge profit margins :) thanks again :)

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

I don't think they would be real...

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

I'm skeptical that they would be real, it very hard to find them, and I wouldn't believe that it was the real thing unless I bought it from the place of origin. Even if it's expensive, doesn't mean that it's real, may be a very good copy.

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

that is my concern as well! but even if it is not real it is so damn soft and it look exactly how it is on internet. but i have no way howsoever to confirm it.

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

saleem fabrics have a collection of french chantilly lace sarees. can anyone confirm if they are real or not? they say they import it from dubai.

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

Do you mean chantilly lace?

I suspect the saris in question are not real chantilly lace… most likely faux chantilly lace that is machine made and polyester/synthetic base that they are trying to pass off as real and thus inflating the price. Real lace does not stretch or tear easily and is very rare at the retail level and is usually only available to private buyers and clothiers.

So since it is faux or fake chantilly lace do your shopping around and compare prices and quality… you will find different weights and consistencies being pasted off for the real thing so take your pick!

Re: french chantelle/dentelle sarees

Similarly, "french chiffon" is not really French. Instead, it is a generic name given to higher quality chiffon usually found in the west - typically for dresses for which you can see different fabric qualities of ranging from retail all the way to designer. It is also an excuse to charge more so be mindful that the chiffon is actually of a higher quality in that it is stronger and more thread count, not just a loose weave of chiffon that is really light.

So the number one thing that you should pay attention to when buying "french chiffon" saris with any type of embroidery is to make sure the work has been done on proper backing and not just on the fabric itself. Also, be careful of the embroidery in places like your underarms as the work on your short sleeves rubs against your body potentially tearing or pilling the fabric.

Most often the work is so heavy and not properly backed that the delicate fabric tears - chigge tha hai. In this regard, Indian net saris with heavy embroidery last much longer and are more durable with a similar effect in style, but perhaps not as flowy.
