People burn flags to symbolize freedom of speech. While I am all for freedom of speech, I think burning a flag is not symbolic nor it is speech, it is an action (and a despicable one). So while speech maybe free, actions are not. Just like a law, you may criticize it but you may not break it.
The great flag of United States of America which represents freedom and liberty, and puts a cheer in everyones life when it is waved, should be protected by all humans of the planet earth and not burnt.

Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
Verizon ji, this whole burning flags business is just a myth, just like we were told women in the 60's burnt their bra's. It's a Myth i tell you!
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
Its just a darn cloth. There are thousands more made to replace a burnt flag. why is it so offensive?
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
M_M: really!! women burnt their bra's, for what? to celebrate menopause? I heard british bra's are dirty so maybe they were infected by lice in the 60's, maybe they didnt have "lice-all". But not our U.S flag, it represents humanity.
Mamooli: Usin you logic/comment; Quran or holy scriptures are written on paper, why is that so offensive, when it is burnt. I can understand burning the original but a copy, which can be easily re-produced.
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
:)
my commment is the exact response from some worldly guppies to the Quran desecration issue.
i would like to know if these same guppies would find the american flag burning offensive.
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
i dont know everything, im too young, the only thing i can appreciate from the 60’s is the music and they didnt burn bra’s. tis a lie! a myth, the spinning and concocting of events to mislead innocence such as myself. I think thats what your doing too, with this whole flag thing, i will not believe you verizon chachu
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
With freedom of speech comes responsibility. By burning a flag you are not acting responsible but increasing amniosity with the people of that nation who's flag is being burnt. And when they show hatred against your own, then you shouldn't complain.
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
You are always so amusing.
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
Screw U verizon..if people want to burn the flag they should, if they want to flush the quran down the toilet they should. They are not harming anyone. It is a freedom of expression issue.

Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
Art is symbolic and it is an act and expression. Do you want to ban it too?
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
Actually PD I want to get pissed off drunk then drive at 120 miles per hour in a 25 mph side street to express my freedom. I should be allowed and not get arrested. Right?
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
Yes, but at that moment you are a menace to society. You can cause injuries ot others, therefore your right to do so is unfortunately discounted by the safety of others. Unless you are burning flags in a barn full of hay with school children rolled up in gasoline, it should be legal.
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
^^ Same can be applied to burning flag in public. Someones beard can catch fire or wind can carry a spark and start a wild fire. I say ban the stupid art/practice.
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
^ no it cannot. So can walking down the street, you might be hit by a car. wtf are you talking about?
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
Verizon…how is that action? Let me ask you this. If someone shows you a middle finger without saying a word, is that speech or action?
Re: Freedom of Speech:Flag Burning
