The University of Bradford has launched a campaign to free its Chancellor, Imran Khan, from imprisonment in his home nation of Pakistan.

Imran, who is also Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (Movement for Justice) Party and a political rival of President Pervez Musharraf, was arrested and charged under anti-terrorism legislation on Wednesday 14 November 2007 after appearing at a rally at a university in Lahore, Pakistan.

If you want to register your opposition to Imran’s arrest, please sign our petition using the form below. We will post names, and selected comments, on our petition page.

Lets start a "Free GEO TV" Petition as well.

Re: Free Imran - put your name to our petition

They are not useless, they are just a new way of raising your voice. They are becoming a strong medium to unite people all over the world on an issue.

And there is a free geo petition out there. I did sign it.

Re: Free Imran - put your name to our petition

Since you like this behavior of Pakistni Police I hope you get the same “Chitrol” next time you are in Pakistan. People like you have encourage bast***s like Musharaf, BB and Nawaz to use government to suppress the peole of Pakistan. Shame on you!

Re: Free Imran - put your name to our petition

hehe :rotfl:

easy there bro… u don’t have to get your nickers in a twist. It wasn’t a serious comment. I don’t believe in getting emotional about issues that i have no control over. I see people having e-fights all the time about whose hero is the best and who is the next messiah. The fact is they are all bad. Even imran would not be much different. In order to make a government he needs to rely on the same people in different parts of the country that other governments have relied on and consequently those people are going to have an influence on the policies. Politics, especially pakistani politics, is never a one man show.

Re: Free Imran - put your name to our petition

in the selected messages brandford universty havethey have ...........ones that support his release....they choose to not post ones critical of Imran..even if message if of support .....for example the messages who talk about Imran's rights and reminding him that he is getting support from libral students ...who he calls 'brown sahabs'.....but jamatis he supports beat him, qaid him him and give him to police. brandford univesty wants imran to have freedom of speech, but universty cannot post messages if its one percant critique

Re: Free Imran - put your name to our petition

Then you better don’t play with others’ emotions and stay away if you’re not interested. The country is on stake and ppl here do care about it. Imran is not just an opposition leader (this should be debated seperately) but also a national hero, who has revolutionalized social welfare (in private sector) in the country (check out how many players/singers have opened schools and hospital after Imran), someone who has given to the country, not only taken.

If you think what Mush is doing is right, then its different. But still the thread is not for them.

This is not a personality clash its ideology behind creation of Pakistan that is crushed by millitary boots for last 60 years.

Re: Free Imran - put your name to our petition

and where did i say i don't care about the country? or does caring about the country mean you jump all over those who have opposing views?

wot if anything is going to be achieved by us fighting online? It would be different if some of the extra-passionate people went to pakistan and participated in rallies.

Re: Free Imran - put your name to our petition

^ no, fighting is different and expressing anger over injustice is different.

Mush curbed the media, even shut it down overseas (that no dictator could've think of before) and now you want us not to raise voice even on Internet? Where should an average Pakistani go and do about Millitary's brutality?
