Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
and, who are WE to tell them that they should NOT be offended if they feel that way?
Learn to read. Who gets offended by a display of religion? Seriously you gotta have a stick pretty far up your ass to be this tight and rigid about a display of religion. I guess you hate it when Ascension is a holiday in Europe as well eh?
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
Yes and infringing on the rights of minorities is just the way to go about in a forward thinking manner. Mirch you do know you need permission from the city Municipality to build a mosque? In Bern Switzerland they have refused to allow the building of a mosque for the past 30 years. Muslims in Bern pray in different warehouses and in basements due to the council's decision.
Same here. People can not build mosques without the cities approval and considering the past 5 yeas of french secularism, their requests have most likely been rejected. To expand or build a mosque you need a permit. From the very same people that banned the prayers in the street.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
But why would you pray on streets? Say a religion allows you to eat from another person's plate without requiring his/her permission, would you stop him from reaching to your plate to grab a bite? I think you would..
Your actions have to make sense to be even allowed in the first place.. praying in streets
Same can be said about walking half naked on the streets. Where's the manners and sharm-o-haya then?
I'm okay with this ban and I'm okay with the ban on obscene clothing in KSA. *It hurts the sensitivities of many of our fellow citizens *should be a good enough reason for any country, not just France, to ban anything, would you agree?
Muslims in those areas should have been working on expanding masajids and building more to accommodate all the namazi .
Perhaps they can't afford it?
We have just one mosque (a house used as masjid) in my city and they find it hard to keep up with the rent for that one place too. They've had to start different fundraising activities to keep the masjid going. If muslim population in this city was to increase, they would definitely run out of room and would not have enough funds for a second/bigger place. I doubt muslims here will take to the streets though, they will just not pray in jamaat any more.

So would you be okay if France all of a sudden decides to be adopt Christian justice system and throws all nonChristines out of the country or start treating them like minorities are treated in Saudi Arab or Pakistan?

The masjid committee would have been given the reason for that rejection , you overcome the objection and circumvent the system. If every objection has been taken care of all the building codes have been followed and all the permits have been obtained no sob can stop you from building a Masjid even in a secular state. Even the communist states have working , functioning masajids. Those secular states have courts and parliaments and they work completely differently than than the kangaroo courts and parliaments of so called Muslim countries. You have to take your fight to courts and parliaments instead of whining and ranting and instigating emotions of unsuspecting muslims in muslim countries.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
Why?
When I was last there (I lived in Switzerland from 1999 to 2005) the reason and i quote "they did not feel the need for one in Berne". Secondly the government refused to sell land to the Muslim Embassies to build a mosque outside of town for some odd reason. I never understood the reason for the land case, but it was not allowed.
Now we have 4 mosques in berne well did when I last went in 2009. Two in Ostring. One near the Bahnoff and one on the otherside of town. They were all old buildings that were refurbished.

Yes you can. The municipality can decide not to sell you the land. They don't need to give a reason for that. The land is used at the best judgment of the council. They decide what can and can not be done. They can simply state that there is no reason for the extension or it violates open space codes. I am not sure about France but I know Switzerland and Austria require a certain portion of each building to be "green". Like in Pakistan it was 30% now its 10%.

I can not agree with that , if Muslims of those areas sell one third of their jewelry , sell their TV , downgrade their car , downsize their home they can generate enough to build a decent sized Masjid.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
They don't allow nudity for a reason. It's offensive! wearing abaya = half clothed women in public. Being nude = praying in streets. That's how I see it.
So you agree that if a country finds something offensive, it has the authority to ban it even if it is not causing anyone any harm. There you go, we have an agreement finally.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
I don't know how this will hurt anyone lol. Coz even in Lahore, I haven't seen people praying on footpaths. In parks, sure and outside the Masjid, but not randomly on the street.

In other words its the fault of the Muslim community that the Mayor of Paris banned praying on the street. I bet you blame Africans for slavery as well.

Are you bound to buy land from municipality ? You cannot buy from private party , cannot buy a building to turn it into Majid. In US many churches were bought by Muslims to turn them into Masajids.

Obviously you have run out of reasonable arguments .

I provide authentic real life examples and you just ignore them. You make up fanciful comments based on imagination which do not apply to European law and I have run out of arguments. Well done.

I thought you to be a reasonable person with balanced personality and approach and interested in having level headed discussions. I am very disappointed and offended.
These are very insulting remarks and uncalled for.

I do too. But I have not run out of arguments you have.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
[EMAIL=“^@Mirch[/MENTION]”][1]Mirch - Maybe you didn’t get my point. Walking around in little clothing will less likely to offend people walking nude would. Similarly, walking around in abaya will not offend as many people as praying in streets would.
I hope you get my point. I wasn’t trying to be offensive.
