Well done there. The beauty of secularism in full effect. And this is what people want in Pakistan.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
A good step by French.
Why would someone offer a prayer on footpath anyway? Seriously, we Muslims have forgotten all the manners.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
French interior minister Claude Gueant said the hundreds of prostrate worshippers ‘hurt the sensitivities of many of our fellow citizens’.**
Far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen claimed that praying in the street had become a ‘political act of fundamentalists’ and that the worshippers involved looked like an occupying army.*

secularism at it’s best bias ! ![]()
A completely nude woman billboard splattered across the Metro in Paris is perfectly acceptable and doesn’t offend anyone but a Muslim saying his prayer on the streets has become a ‘political act of fundamentalists’ and that the worshippers involved looked like an occupying army.

*You guys don’t know the background here, there’s been some sort of competition going on between the muslim and non-muslim communities in Paris.

Anyway, I see it as another attention diversion tactics of a capitalistic government, keep the working class fighting among each other.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
^oh chalo at least that is something good if they did really ban the pork party
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
They’re going to impose this law on other muslim-dominated areas too, not just Paris.
As for the “competition”
People have too much time on their hands.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
As long as muslims have been given mosques and alternatives we shouldn’t be making an issue out of it.
Now the ban on headscarf was something totally against religious as well as secular laws but this one doesn’t count for it.

Good to know people compare praying on the street with protecting the neighborhood from the encroachment of Islam.](“http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37712439/ns/world_news-europe/t/paris-police-ban-pork-party-muslim-area/”)
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris

I'm not. That is why you didn't see me condemning it. When I'm in KSA, I don't have a problem walking in public in an abaya or a naqaab. When I'm in France, I will respectfully abide by their law and not walk around in burqa.
What I do find upsetting yet funny at the same time is people's double standards (among muslims and non-muslims alike) but I'll go into that later to add some masala in this thread.
PS: Muslims haven't been "given" mosques, they have to pay sky-high rent for it - €30,000 per year. Not that I'm asking for a free place, just saying the French aren't doing them a favour, they're paying for it.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
Shabash, this is strip tease by wolf wearing sheep costume.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
But why would you pray on streets? Say a religion allows you to eat from another person’s plate without requiring his/her permission, would you stop him from reaching to your plate to grab a bite? I think you would..
Your actions have to make sense to be even allowed in the first place.. praying in streets ![]()
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
Theorist it happens all over the world. People pray on the street when they don't have access to a Mosque. Instead of banning prayers on the street, the Municipality of Paris could have helped the Muslim community find a place for a bigger mosque. Banning is not required when people have space to pray.
There is always an easy and logical thing to do, instead of being racist and xenophobic.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
See it this way , it is a economy boosting measure of French government. How ? This ban will start many projects to build more masajids and expansion of existing ones. That construction boom will give a boost to French economy .
Instead of whining the Muslims in those areas should have been working on expanding masajids and building more to accommodate all the namazi . What if there is rain and snow how can people pray on the streets in rain and snow.
Some of the laws and changes are good for us and should spark positive thinking instead of whining and ranting. Whining and ranting instead of forward thinking and planning has gotten us all into this mess we are in now a days and if we do not change our behavior we are going nowhere.
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
*Muslims are the ONLY ones i've seen praying on the streets...never saw a Hindu/Sikh/Budhist pray on the sidewalks/streets ... we think our religion is the RIGHT one so we have the RIGHT to pray wherever we like...we MUST respect the local customs and NOT offend people unnecessarily...PERIOD!!! *
Re: France bans Muslim prayers on streets in Paris
Yes and infringing on the rights of minorities is just the way to go about in a forward thinking manner. Mirch you do know you need permission from the city Municipality to build a mosque? In Bern Switzerland they have refused to allow the building of a mosque for the past 30 years. Muslims in Bern pray in different warehouses and in basements due to the council's decision.
Same here. People can not build mosques without the cities approval and considering the past 5 yeas of french secularism, their requests have most likely been rejected. To expand or build a mosque you need a permit. From the very same people that banned the prayers in the street.

Who the hell gets offended with people praying on the street? Seriously are people that up tight that they can't walk around a group of people on the corner?

Exactly, we should come out of this victim mentality.
