I thought he was ideologically driven, but it is all conjecture at this point. There is no definitive proof of involvement of army in MQM's creation. None of us where there, but from my conversations with senior MQM people, I have never heard anyone say army supported them.
Bottom line is that today, the MQM is a populist movement and is on the side of sane people of Pakistan who are opposed to the beheaders and suiciders who are the greatest threat to Pakistan.

While all the BS that you try to spread here defending MQM, the reality is that there are several destabilizing forces in Pakistan that keep working in trying to harm Pakistan.
Each driven by different ideology and with different interests. There are religious extremists supported by rogue elements in Afghanistan and India, there are corrupt polticians just interested in making money and there are Mafai like organizations like MQM, whose sole interest is keeping a Mafia-like hold in their areas. Do you think Lunaticslike Mulla Fazlullah car about Islam? no they do not, its all business. Same with MQM, its a Mafia like Italians, a bunch of criminals.

If you stay in a dirty place for long enough, some dirt does eventually get on you.

No he did one good deed. He introduced pensions to widows of government employees, whose husbands retired or qualifying retirement, died in widows' lives. I think this practice is still existing.
