I just realized that in my earlier post, I predicted/wished/suggested/acknowledged the demise of both forums that I mod. How stupid of me

No problem. I guess mod is a voluntary work ? You can volunteer to work at local penitentiary if they fire you.

i post most in cafe, so i can only say stuff about there and i think a lot of ppl (including me) at various places already hv.
and its building every day, obviously smthng is going on.

Having seen what it was like before, I really feel Wedding forum is best on its own. Otherwise the Wedding threads take over the other forums.

No one is saying its Mods fault but like UKAJ said they need to facilitate things. The need to get the ball rolling in the field.

GENERAL
In my humble opinion, it is the trickiest forum to Mod. Almost 50-60 % percent of threads that are started else where can be started in General also, but at the same time, almost 60-70 % of threads in General can be moved to other sections, cause we have so many different sections and those threads can easily fall under that category.

So its not only difficult for Mods to keep the right traffic in General, it is also tricky for guppies to figure out what to start in General. Maybe (and this is my personal thought) in the future, when we have more refined categories, we may not need a forum like General. **Maybe Cafe and General can become one. I dont know, I am just speaking loud.

Mods. are volunteers and have enough on their plates without trying to worry about increasing the traffic count to the forums. I think guppies have to accept most of the blame. I would like to increase my posts and want to flood in cafe but there is a lack of flooders out there unless you include school girls. There are groups that stick their own kind. I think sometimes moderators need to facilitate posters until a thread gains a momentum of its own. In this sense it is useful to have people as moderators who can do this, but some of them just like to chat with their pals only. The only person that I could flood with was Aisha and even she has disappeared for the last couple of days :(

Honestly, I don't know what is the point of having a General forum? I mean what is one supposed to post in it? Either merge it with cafe or get rid of it. But then there are the ones who flood the cafe for no apparent reason, out of the blue pata nai kiYa hojata hai logoN ko..

anyways, the General forum needs a clear cut definition of what needs to be posted in it, either do that or put no limit at all like other forums on the web have done so.

edit: this may be off topic, when is the health&fitness forum launching?

My few cents:

General: I like the fact that we can discuss serious issues that are general by nature here without going off track too much. I think the Mods are actively starting new threads and leading people into becoming more familiar with what types of topics belong there. Yes, maybe the description up on the main page can be modified a bit.

Cafe: It's fun but the traffic is being distracted by our beloved Chatroom. Cafe Mods are great too. So easy-going but get the job done. :biggthumb

Life Forums: Great. Smooth. But like everyone mentioned, a separate Health & Fitness would be great. :)

RKS: I think it would do better if we guppies started posting personal artwork even if there were not state of the art or fancy shmancy. That always draws more attention than paintings by other artists because one can critique something only a few times on the same thread. After that someone like me may be at a loss for words. :(

Other forums, I guess I don't have much to say, so I won't.

Interesting, because I am aware of atleast one Forum where this is done when it gets quiet. Sometimes, things make you go hmmmm : )
