I wouldn't necessarily agree with reporting anybody immediately. First thing is to take notice at your next local desi dinner party while men go off in the other room and start discussing politics. There is always somebody who is very happy to see the west being blown up, even though they themselves will be upset if their own children were affected by it directly or by the subsequent backlash. For starters, instead of ignoring them which is what a lot of people do, confront them and speak out against their views to them directly. Too many people turn a blind eye.
i think media should not show so much graphic pics, videos from around the world nowadays and they shouls only limit themselves to reporting only in little detail about any kind of violence and i think it is going to reduce this kind of terrorism as LONDON BOMBING.
in the late Eighties/early 1990's (poss a bit earlier)the uk muslim student population were introduced to groups of people who introduced them to a new ideology...one that gave them the identity of a "muslim" rather than a pakistani muslim boy/girl
was this the starting point for what happened on thursday?
laisy daisy - who are these groups of people and what "muslim" identity were they introduced to that was so different from typical pakistani muslim identity?
sometimes, a different view of Islam seems so intruiging and so right u forget the typical pakistani islam u've grown up with.. it just doesnt seem to satisfy your needs.
sometimes, the circumstances you're in start to make you think differently.. like for example when you have young pakistani males (or even females ive seen) who have grown up in the west.. knowing Islam (even basics about it) and when the return to Pakistan.. they see a completely different way of life... some people take advantage of the naiveness and brainswash them into seeing things differently..
its really scary.. ive seen it happen..
as a family, you need to get together and discuss Islam.. not just what you think but talk to the individual about their view and ask them whats lead to the change.. uve got to be constantly talking.. not putting them down.. just understanding..
im not going to mention groups but basically there were issues with teenagers
they suffered from an identity crisis
they were pakistani
they were british
they where muslim
they were boy/girl
they lived in an open society but due to the constriants of race/religion/caste/culture etc it was confusing
they had to live according to their parents morals, ethics and beliefs
along came islamic groups and told them that no they didnt have to do things such as marry the person their parents insisted they did because it was against Islam, they were told that they were muslims...they formed social groups everyone felt wanted and they all had a stick to beat their parents with.
Now I havent given you all the info and I amd generalising far too much but it is 3am here but basically thats how some of this started
It has become a religious war..no matter what we say about Islam or muslims. Religious war is what Al Qaida wants…that is the intention. The reaction of the West towards these bombings is going to be anti-muslim, hence offending more muslims and making youngsters more vulnerable to these fanatics.
You are asking how can we stop them..the answer is that religious leaders should step forward and state how Islam condemns such crimes. Religious leaders are not doing a good enough job in putting an end to this anrachy. They hate the West and therefore are in the spectator mode. It’s time to step up and educate people, especially muslim youth. It’s not the West who can put an end to it…It’s us!! and we should do it for the sake of Islam and future generations.
there are lot of things ppl talk about.. some for the sake of being devil’s advocate.. doesn’t mean they are going to go and kill ppl as well. just because they dont agree with ur point of view doesnt mean they are terrorists. and why limit to just men? there are women sucide bombers with radical views as well.and why just limit this to muslim population? what about those of other religious extremes? will u report ur own family member if they say something like that?
i think we as an individuals can do a lot as well and not just put all the burden on the religious leaders. we have to ask ourselves when was the last time we as person did anything to promote understanding between muslims and people of other faiths?
these bomb suciders were kids. the tolerance and patience has to start from schools and universities and homes since early stages not at the mosques or any other insitutions.
Suroor, I was merely giving an example to start paying attention to what is being discussed around us. Too many times I have seen certain individuals who in reality would never hurt a fly on the wall, be joyful over attacks in the west, of course, while living in the west themselves. Battling the mentality that this is "o.k.", of course as long as it doesn't affect the individual themselves, needs to be addressed.
I agree we should all play our part. Leaders are supposed to lead, it's not a burden.
Why shouldn't the tolerance start at the mosque? These crimes are happening in the name of religion. Besides, mosque comes before schools and universities.
