Yes no doubt in that. However the same people do not live in other countries and they do not have the same culture as here in USA. A democratic system does not have to be based on western principles or values. A democratic system in other countries should be based on the principles and values they hold dear and follow. Democracy by no means implies the globalization of a certain set of values of a certain set of people. Apparently one size does not fit all.

In a sense, the Chinese, iranians, Pakistanis, etc. all have democracies...liberal democracies are not the only kind, they're the only ones recognized by Westerners.

I do not think there is something called western principles. What I do see is that the western countries have a democractic system based on a secular set of values.
Countries such as Pakistan or Iran have democracies based on their religious values. Chinese have demoacracy based on communist principles. Now what you may argue is that among all the democracies USA has the least vertical compartments as compared to others.

First of all, I'd like to say, stop stereotyping Muslims & Islam.
KSA follows Sharia, and as part of their governance, the Westerners living in Saudi (Riyadh to be precise) are given their own little private-land where they can buy & eat pork & alcohol, with walls built around to keep Muslims out. This is called tolerance for minorities.
Why is it that you selectively pick only the bad Muslims, and try to potray Islam (the system) as bad, based on the invalid following of the individual(s). I've never heard anything positive about Islam (such as Saudi tolerance for minorities) coming from you. Same goes for Western Media.
Everyday you can see the a similar religious superiority here on Gupshup. This presumed superiority plays itself out in many ways. Al Qaedda is simply quilty of saying, "Islam is a superior way, so why do a Billion Muslims not have the world power they deserve?" And they are willing to resort to violence to prove this point.
You can find the answer to this in Hadith, but since you seem to potray yourself as being very knowledgeable about Islam, I bet you are capable of providing to us some references regarding these "world powers" which you speak of, which are suppose to be the result of following Islam.
