Sadiyah, no. I was just referring to the connections b/w alahbadis. They seem to be everywhere and usually can be tracked down thru nanas/dadis/etc. I dont know Dania as yet, but who knows -- she might just end up being my nana's cousin's great grand daughter.. :)
Grand parents were fom hyderabad. My parents were born in Karachi though. My grandfather from Orangabad..and mom from Hyderabad deccan. Does anyone know if there is differnce between Orangabad and hyderabad deccan. Even both my parents families have ference when it comes to food, dresses and language.
we r not urdu speaking like you ppl r refering ......but the people who don't know us much , often assume we r 'ahl-e-zuban' :)
infact my husband still teases me saying if i'm from luckhnow...:o (he himself is our distant relative) ....it was only after marriage , i learned to speak proper panjaabi .....:)
in the area we live in .....urdu speaking ppl are not really good urdu speakers .....specially their accent got mixed with local ....n its totally ruined now!!
sadiyah, i've lived 4 years in NWFP, 2 years in punjab, and 3 years since mostly with punjabis (some of whom by the way make fun of me when i say Qeema instead of Keema). my urdu is regarded as a bit of a let down in my household.
