Re: For Pakistan to Prosper.....
Ruling a country should not be taken as becoming King of country (whom people serve), but should be taken as becoming servant of people (where rulers serve). Army is the strongest and most discipline institution of Pakistan, who is paid by people to secure their interest, and thus they are servant of people who could rule the country to serve people and secure people’s interest. Anyhow, if democracy is to replace army, then it should be real democracy and not farce democracy.
Pakistan can prosper only if Army takes over power and tell politicians that they would hold election anytime on demand within 2 years of their demand. But would only hand over power if total turnout is over 70 percent of registered vote, and party to form government (along with their allies) secures at least 40 percent of registered Vote. Plus candidate contesting election should have no allegation of corruption on him. If that does not happen after any demand election, transfer of power would not happen and election would be deemed null and void.
Meanwhile army runs the country unbiased using technocrats and political representatives (if they secure more than 50 percent of registered vote in their constituency during latest past election).
Present situation: In 2008 election: There were around 90 million registered voters. Turnout was less than 40 percent (~35 million votes).
Largest party, PPP got ~12 million votes and that represent less than 15 percent of total registered vote (in other words, less than 1 in 7 Pakistani registered voters voted PPP).
Second largest party in assembly, PMLN got ~6.5 million votes and that is around 7 percent of total registered vote (in other words, less than 1 in 13 Pakistani registered voters voted PMLN).
Along with allies PPP formed government. Excluding PMLQ as they were not part of initial government, total votes of ruling coalition was ~ 17 million, and that is ~ 19 percent of registered vote (in other words, less than 1 in 5 Pakistani registered voters voted the alliance who formed government). Even if one includes PMLQ (as they are presently part of government), total votes of alliance is less than 26 million, and that is less than 29 percent of registered vote (or in other words, less than 2 out of 7 Pakistani registered voters voted for present alliance).
That should not happen. If politicians should rule the country in the name of people (democracy) then they should not be alleged corrupt and they should collectively secure at least 70 percent of registered vote, and any party (individually or with alliance) that rules the country should have people’s mandate from at least 40 percent of registered voters. Else these bunch of Liars and crooks do not deserve to rule the country on false presumption that they represent people.
