I dont believe in this day and age women are okay with just being part of their susraal and having no attachment to their families anymore. If you're living in the US...you evetually develop the independence to do anything...whether you are a man or woman.
So, in order to maintain some sort of equilibrium and also to promote love and peace between a couple...love each other's inlaws.
It would make me SO happy if I saw a guy being caring towards my parents...and that is what should feed your actions...your love for one another. Not just a sense to duty or obligation.

or do you see it as a girl married into your family so she needs to make more of an effort.......
or would you see it as a girl and guy marry into each others families so both need to make the effort...
or would you stay far away from both sets of inlaws and try to meet up with them oh say every 10 yrs or so......
2!!. I believe in healthy balance. I would highly dislike the fact if my wife to be gives her share of love and care to my parents and i am not doing my part. Good marriage = balance. Insha'allah everybody will be happy.

I plan to be very, very close to my in-laws... have to be... since they will inshallah be filthy rich and I will live with and off them. ameen sum ameen.
