It's true that education is never a waste, but I do have a problem with women who have no intention of working taking up spots in schools that train for specific careers, particularly med schools. Women tend to do very well academically, and they often get selected and take up spots that others planning to actually practice then lose. That's a problem.
^That is true, that is definitely a problem. Often they just do it to be qualified or have a certain status and take it away from those that REALLY and ACTUALLY want to work in that field. In my case, comparative literature (english and urdu) + filmmaking isn't as competitive as pre-med, thank god. :D

I don't know that's kind of a tough one. Maybe your view is understandable for something like med school but everyone should be able to study/learn what they want to. If someone really enjoyed a certain subject and wanted to study who are we to question them about it?
^^ Sahar, hate to say this but some girls enter those specialized fields taking up valuable seat so that they can get the MRS. degree. I have a met a few such women and they were married before they even did their house job and now they have no intention of working.
There are a lot of other 'qualified' women too who entered colleges or universities and got their MBA and other degrees only as a way to meet a guy they could married to. This thing was very odd to me when I first came across it.

Everyone should be able to study and learn. But training for a specific field that you do not intend to practice, I feel that is wrong when spots are limited and competitive.

Yup. I've come across that as well. It's one thing to intend to practice and later give it up due to various family/life commitments. It's another to use it for your "biodata," especially when you're given scholarships and you're using up valuable resources that others need.
