Slovenia won against Algeria 1-0.
This goal was all due to poor goal-keeping. Kind of what happened to England.
have always supported Brazil in football. I just love the South American style of play, dribbling, short passes, field goals etc.
If not Brazil then I want Argentina to win..

England don't have pace. Glen Johnson did well yesterday, but Rooney...urgh. I can't remember the last time he scored a goal for England when it really mattered. Friendlies don't count!

He usually is for England matches. I know he's the bees knees for Man U, but for England I dont think he pulls his weight...lets face it, there is a lot of weight to pull around!
He scored 8+ goals during the qualifiers, so hardly over rated, he just seemed out of sorts yesterday, chances were few and far between.

The issue is Rooney is that he is seen as a great striker when he is with a very strong team, so in EPL with United beating up on weaker teams, but when the opposition is strong a la Champions League he is not much of a factor, he gets frustrated and then acts like a lout.
How I miss real strkers like shearer and linekar..rooney is nothing like them, they were inventive, and could single handedly alter the course of a game, rooney needs to be spoon fed at the mouth of the goal.
I like the guys, but he is no shearer or gary the scary linekar,,,golden boot winner..

Heskey set some good chances up for Rooney, but he didn't take them! I honesly have never seen him perform when he's wearing the England shirt. He's disappointing.
Shearer should get his boots back on. I think its a bit late for Linekar like, all those crisps he eats...nah.
I have no idea why I care so much, cos England aren't really going to do owt special. I shall eat my hat if they do!

against what quality opposition? scoring a bunch of goals on some bottom feeder relegation fighting EPL team is one thing, scoring when it matters against better teams is another, what was his record in champions league or even against top flight clubs in EPL?’
Personally, I hope you are right and he is all that he is stated to be and even more and he can do the type of damage strikers like Linekar, Shearer and even Ian Wright did in their day.

he destroyed AC milan in the CL aswell as putting in solid performances through out the campaign, as for domestically, off the top of my head, i cant remember against the top teams how much he did score, but he alone lead the line not only with his goal scoring but is assists for many of his team mates.

Orphy, well lets then just hope that he does better than he did against US, because if we cant agree on his season performance or qualifiers performance, I hope we can agree that against US he was for the most part a non factor, gerrard, heskey, johnson and lennon played better than rooney and had more of an impact on the game.

Green made a huge mistake but I would still rate him better than James and hope that Capello does not drop him.
But I hope he drops Heskey, the guy just cant score!! Gerrard can play just behind Rooney (just like he does with Torres at Liverpool) and Barry can fit in the midfield.

Totally agreed with that. Dunga is absolutely loathed by Brazilians for his efficient football.

If Fabio Capello's overhyped men can't win against both Algeria and Slovenia (both sides are limited in the extreme and defensive), they simply don't deserve to progress beyond the group stage

heskey played brilliantly and caused all kinds of trouble for US, and lets not forget it was his pass that Gerard capitalized on. I am not a Heskey fan, but he has an impact on games. he cant score, but as far as recent games go, niether can Rooney, and if he is going to wait at the mouth of the goal to just slide something in when everyone has been beaten then sorry that is unlikely to happen, going strictly by numbers, crouch is better..

Slovenia are 2-0 up as we approach half time, should the result remain Slovenia qualify from this group. USA as an attacking force are woeful, even the commentary team are taking diggs at their coach, saying he's got a hannibal lecter resemblence to him. Haha.
