Im so very selective in eating. Specially the sweet dishes. I dont like fruits except some of them so any dish with tinned fruits like apricots, mango, pineapples i would not eat. Tried once a fruit trifle or some dish and I vomited.
I cant even drink Rooh Afza, its over sweety aroma nauseates me. Many more things I can tell of but yes i eat all veggies no issues with them.
Brain masala is one of my favourite salans :).
Cakes also!!! im a bit sensitive with, dont like banana cake at all and cake with raisins is also not of my type. Dont like MANGO at all!!!
I cant even eat the sweet dishes or even savory ones with too much of Elaichi in them, specially sawaiyyan, kheer or firni which i do eat but elaichi smell that over rules the taste again make me very very uncomfortable.
Have never tried any organs so can’t say what I don’t like, but I am surely passing the ‘kapuray’ without ever trying…but have heard its oh so delicious…errrr ok
Oy, if I just list what I like it’d be a much shorter post.
I hate most veggies special mention goes to *paalaak, **maythee, kadoo (doesn’t this name sound funny but eating it is far from amusing), zucchini, cauliflower. *But…I might eat all of these despised *subzees *if served with fresh naans (or leftover naans softened with butter)…heck I’ll eat *zehr *with naan. The handful of veggies I like don’t appear to get much love from others, such as turnips, cabbage, beets.
I hate most daals too except the yellow and red ones and *masar. *Special hate goes to red kidney beans *salan. *I have no issues with it otherwise when served as a salad. As I said above…with naans I’ll chow down all kinds of daals and curries.
I think I have an aversion to mussles and conch. Also any meat with funky smell. The *payaa *meat…it has jelly like consistency (barfs)…but I’d eat its *shorba *with naan of course! With that said I love gizzard…chicken’s that is (warning: don’t google its images!).
Sehrysh, I think I like liver too especially when my darling mom makes it…cuz she too can’t stand the smell of meat and takes extra care to remove that lingering *boo! *I only hate biting into the intricate web of veins (eww) with chewy texture that you find in the liver, which means spending an unreasonable amount of time on each bite trying to separate meat from veins. Hope the description isn’t too graphic for liver haters.
Oh, I also hate paratha and pakoras. The only time I’d actually request paratha is when its raw qeema stuffed paratha.
And I like beets, cabbage and turnips - mind you, I also like cauliflower, zucchini, kadoo/pumpkin and all other vegetables, except for maybe karela. Karela and I have a love-hate relationship - I can eat karela-qeema, but channa-daal and karela is just yucky!!!
Oh, I love karela…ok love isn’t the right word…but simply saying “like” doesn’t quite capture how much I actually like it…so my fondness falls somewhere between “like” and “love”. I never tried it with channa daal though. The only way we cook it is with qeema or just karela and lots of onion…the latter I am not too fond of…but anything with meat…“the non-stinky meat” is fine.
I just remembered I also dislike smoked salmon…gave it a few chances but yuck! Hate goat cheese too…I bet licking a goat’s udder probably tastes the same as eating goat cheese.
How do you guys tolerate cauliflower, zucchini and kadoo? (I do eat kadoo ka raita once in a while though)
