What are food supplements exactly? The tablets which contain vitamins and minerals?Are they multivitamins?
Which age is best to start food supplements?
If one takes it in early age, can one continue it forever?
I’ve heard that one shouldn’t take such tablets bcoz one gets used to it and then can’t do without them, is that true?

What type of supplement were you wanting to take? Complan is a good supplement source for everyday use and for every age group too, other alternatives can be ovaltine and milo to a certain extent.
Food supplements fill in the gaps that your regular meals don't provide in terms of nutrition. Like, are you taking 10 servings of a variety of fruits and vegetable daily? Are you taking fish that is high in Omega 3 fatty acids at least 3 times a week? Do you eat enough fiber, grains? How do you balance the protein and carbs? Be true to yourself.... having fried egg and bread for breakfast, paratha and kabab for lunch, nihari and roti for dinner, ain't going to cut it! And especially if you have family history of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, you better watch what you eat. [When I say you, I mean me as well].
So yeah, you do need a supplement. A complete multivitamin and mineral, and a fish oil supplement would be a good start.

Try to take a multivitamin and a triple omega (3,6,9) supplement daily, there are also green food supplements u cant try, they provide the many vital nutrients that are essential but that are usually lacking in the average diet.
