This was the case only few months ago in Pak. Musharraf’s so called “dictatorship” got blamed for price hikes in Pakistan. Should we apply the same criteria and blame “Indian democracy” now.
** Food prices spur Indian inflation**
Inflation in India rose more than expected in early February to a six month high on rising food prices.
The wholesale price index hit 4.35% for the year up to 9 February, as the price of vegetables, fruit and lentils rose.
Economists expect inflation to head higher still as last week's rise in fuel prices starts to take effect.
Inflation remains below the Indian central bank’s target rate of 5% but economists say it could breach that level in the near future.
"The numbers are definitely higher than expectations,
“With the fuel price hike showing up in headline numbers from next week, inflation seems to be on an uptrend and may reach the 5 percent mark very soon,” said A. Parana, economist at ICICI Securities in Mumbai.

Food prices shot up in India when they shot up in Pakistan back in January - who knows they may have even shot up in India first? Its easy to point the fingers at Mush and there are people who love doing it and thy have good reason too as well BUT somethings happen because of other external factors too. Why are food prices increasing within the region? is it because of the floods within the summer?

Here is another article on rise in price of wheat globaly. The reasons sighted are exports curbs, drought, higher demand, biofuels, etc. They failed to mention Musharaf though.

Yes. I was surprised great Musharaf’s name not being mentioned. Don’t worry, now that PPP and PML (N) are in power the global food crisis will be resolved, with food and fuel price hikes eradicated. :k:

jab apnay log bhookay hon to woh apnay leaders ke taraf dekhain gay ya India ko. Shabash hay aap ki soch par. It is duty of leaders to control prices of essential goods. Haram ki kamii walon ko to koi faraq nahin parhta, ghareebon par zarror asar parhta hay.
Once upon a time in Ayub's regime, the price of 40 Kg wheat (1 Mon) was raised from Rs. 17/- to Rs. 19/-, faced wrath of people and he had to revert back the prices to Rs. 17 per mon.

Food prices in India are now sharply up.

I think you should blame Mush for poverty and lack of roti kapra makan in India... Its Mushs fault atta prices rose 40 percent in US....

Yeh door ki korhi khana se laaay ho? US has the lowest prices of food as compared to any country in the world. Bhaiaay, yeh American kab se atta khanay lagaay?:D
By the way prices of atta in USA and in Canada haven't been changed since I came in 1993.
Soaring wheat prices have Canadian bakeries struggling, farmers rejoicing and customers digging deeper at the till to pay for their bread and pasta purchases.
The price of flour has been climbing steadily over the last year.
The price of flour has ** doubled in the past two months ** as weather problems, including two years of droughts in Australia, have depleted wheat stocks to lows not seen since the 1970s.
And look what Mush has done to the rest of the world.

Bhaia aaj bhi bread ki price 88C hay, jo das saal phelay thi. pata nahin aap kon si bakery ki baat kar rahay hain. prices agar thorhi barhti bhi hain to kam bhi ho jati hain unlike Pakistan where food prices always move in up ward direction. In USA/Canada, poorest people eat the same food as richest. Comparing Pakistan with these countries is like comparing gorhay with gadhay.:D
Don't be sarcastic to people who think Mush is responsible for price hike. In fact, Mush is responsible for "unprecedented inflation" never in the history of Pakistan seen such soaring prices of edibles.

^ Prices have been going up in US for most food products and are still going up, but people who point at US inflation forget the income levels of two countries.

Due to ever increasing inflation, salaried and middle class people are no longer saving anything at the end of the month. One of my office fellows has just told me he used to save something from his Rs. 14,000/= income but the recent hike in prices has eaten up all his savings.
