Guys can we share some ideas please .. and pics if possible … I know it will help many of us present food in a much better way .. lets share our tips and ideas
Starting with me … recent example , I am serving zarda as the main dessert in tomorrows dawat .. so instead of just keeping it plain in a dish … I made zarda twice .. one in orange color , the other in yellow color …
The dish has orange zarda in the middle and yellow zarda around it … and separetely i have mixed some of the two colored zarda’s and will be using it as a decor .. will put it in fancy little glasses i have and place on both sides of the main zarda platter…
and when the guests leave i will eat the zarda in the glasses
I decorate using radish, tomatoes, peppers, cilantro, parsley, etc. Anything I can get my hands on pretty much! LOL. I cut up carrots and do smiley faces and get a little goofy with stuff too.
Guys we got lucky with the photos, so here they are ...It was my hubby's birthday dawat... and after the main course was served , I cleared the table and set it up with some candles and the dessert course :@:
The zarda was the main dish .. I made it twice , once in orange color , second in yellow color , only to decorate it well ... The glass idea didnt fall through , coz the glass i was using chipped and i thought it was dangerous to serve the food in it ...
The Trifle has the home made cake and custard and stuff ... I used a Jelly mould and mashallah it came out perfect ..
The table was set .. I wanted to serve a dessert starter before anyone jumped on the desserts .. so when I used the same cake I had baked for the Trifle , I cut tiny bite sized triangles of the cake and cut a strawberry in half , froze the strawberries .. and then places one each in their plate with strawberry on top :@:
Everyone loved it .. and I hope you enjoy the pics too ...
Jalpari , I cant .. they ate it all … it disappeared in seconds :no: … even though it was the second in line , zarda was the main dish … but somehow trifle stole the show … poor zarda
If only i knew Jalpari :hinna: … Next time i will do just that … make them eat zarda and then pull out the trifle on them when they are done with zarda
Canadian I was looking for pink to match my pink kitchen … but I couldnt find anything matching .. these were the closest i could get .. so bought them I like them , they look so formal
The Trifle is easy … I used a Jelly mold … I am shortly going to open up a thread for the recipe .. am being asked much about it today
Orphy , I kept the consistancy of jelly and custard , really thick ... and I waited for a few hours before putting on the next layer .. its imperative the previous layer is refrigerated fully before the next layer is put on ...:@:
