I’m sure there must be some of you who have been getting flu shots. I got my first one this year. I accompanied my sister and her kids for their flu shots and the nurse was kind enough to give me one for free 
So now that I have had it im thinking how well they really work. Do u not catch a flu at all or are there still chances?

I don't get them cuz i don't believe it. I have seen ppl being in worst state even after getting flu shots. I'd rather stay warm and drink lots of fluid, and that will help my body.

I get a flu shot every year and it works for me. My immune system is a bit weak so I easily get sick ... but I've been getting the flu shot every year for years now and fortunately, I never get seriously sick with the flu in the winter months.
The flu shot doesn't protect you from bacterial or sinus infections or colds so you can still get the sniffles and a cold despite getting the flu shot.

You can still come down with the flu even if you've had the shot...but if you've had the shot, it will be much less severe. My mom had the flu one year, no shot. It almost killed her. Its a serious thing and makes you so very sick that you wanna die. Can easily go into pneumonia which is what happened to my mom. Why take the chance. I myself am needle-phobic, I'd do almost anything to avoid getting a needle. But this is too important, esp with 3 little ones. If I infected them, I'd never forgive myself! They have "flu-mist" too...it isnt a shot, rather its a nasal spray. Either one will either prevent the flu or make it much less severe.

FF, they dont work...dont you know its all a big govt. study program, where they inject innocent/unsuspecting citizens with new strands of virus to find out how/what kind of effects it will have so they can improve/create better drugs. If you think for a moment that flu shots will help you avoid flu...think again.... in all honesty it really is a guessing game. The estiamte/guess which strand will be more active/prevelant and go with that.

Speaking of Flu Shots, do you guys know if there are any special flu shots for babies who are allergic to eggs? According to the nurse at our Dr. Office, there aren’t any but with the amount of kids I know who are allergic to eggs I am sure there is a flu shot out there.
Oh and most people in my office get sick because they got a flu shot. :-P

I totally agree with Mamaof3. I used to get flu shot every year and never got severe flu. I would catch the flu or cold but it will go away in 2 days. This year i was not able to get the shot and i have already gotten sick 2 times with severe flu which lasted for 4 weeks. I am still sick.... i am definitly getting shot as soon as i am feeling better.

Totally agree, I even read an article about it. Sometimes they even add stuff in it that tests ur immune system and if u r weak u die from it. However, they don’t say this in public, but it would be better if ppl research on it on their own.

So u have a risk of dying with flu or dying with a flu shot. Not much to lose is there!

I always get mine through work, every year employees only have to pay $5 and the company subsidizes the rest, so regardless whether it works or not it cant hurt!

ok heres the thing. The "flu shot" is a concoction that will protect against the MOST POPULOUS type of flu going around at the time that the shot is generated. You can become exposed to a different strain and get sick ... but you won't get AS sick if you've had the shot. As with the common cold, there are so many hundreds of different "strains" that you cannot possibly get innoculated against them all. But if you get the "general" glu shot, you'll be less sick. If you look at the biology of viruses, you can see this easily. There is definitely a benefit to getting the shot. Yes it CAN make you feel like crap for a day or so too - I mean you're introducing a visrus into your system and your system needs to figure out how to fight it off. That just means its working.

Thank you mama, I'll take ur word over these guys who are obviously trying to scare me. Besides I have already had it now so its not like i can undo it. I'll see how this yr goes and then next yr depends upon it.

I just want to add one thing... I never believed in flu shots and Alhamdolillah never got severely sick during the flu season. However, one year I decided to try it out. That year I got the worst flu ever. No flu shot for me ever again.

Come on people....read up on the biology of the virus! and how innoculations are concocted. Then you wont be as distrustful of its ability to protect against severe sickness.

Reading is detrimental to me and more to my PC Kaleem. Last time I read up on bilderberg my IE went down, can;t imagine what will happen wit h coast to coast. Maybe i'll read it on someone else's machine.
