As the day gets closer and closer, I have a feeling Im going to break out as I usually do in tons of zits because Ill be so stressed. It always happens!
My question here is for makeup artists, any of our GSers who play around with make up and have come across a great product, etc.
What foundation in your opinion delivers great coverage for a big event? Im not looking for everyday wear, but for evening out skin tone, smooth complexion for pictures and a flawless look.
The thing is, even though the Makeup Artist I hire will probably be someone great, I want to provide my own foundation and powder.
u need face primer for flawless finish any good brand will do
for foundations try l’oreal or max factor or any good brand jst make sure it matches ur skin colour
a concealor for blemishes again any good brand will do
if ur hiring a professional artist then it wont be a problem for her to work with any product. jst buy stuff that matches ur skin colour. brown neck or hands and white face never looks good
Psquared, so what if you break out? I did on my wedding and even though i freaked out, i realised there was nothing i could do about it. You can see little acne on my mehendi video etc. but you know what? i see none of that now when i look at the pics. Btw my sister had the same concerns as you do and she still let her MA use her foundation and she was fine. I on the otehr hand had already broken out BEFORE using the makeup :)

Ira, thank you for that. I just want to make sure things are perfect and I know Im going to start sounding like Bridezilla very soon...lekin kya karoon?
Bonbon, u won't really have all the shades required to get the flawless perfect look that u're MUA wud have.. but u will need a good primer.. for full-coverage I love Bobbi Brown and to cover blemishes I like to use Makeup Forever's concealers :)
I love YSL flash radiance skincare brush... it's like a primer that you use under your foundation, that will give you a flawless look.
For foundation, i always use bobbi brown, different ones for different occasions. The 3 i like the most are:
Skin foundation spf15 - this is lightweight, and had buildable coverage, so you can go over again if you want.
Foundation stick - great staying power, but i don't think it's suitable for very oily skin.
Oil free even finish foundation spf15 - for oily skin, great for minimising the look of blemishes and had buildable coverage (i would use this if you're worrying about breakouts, which i'm sure you won't get... it's all in your head!! :))

makeup forever concealors are awesome. my makeup artist used these on me for my valima and it was like pERFECTION and trust me my skin is far from perfection FAR FAR FAR from it
Ive used Clinique's Superfit Foundation for my party needs for over 3 years and started to use Dior's Skinflash for everyday wear. These are very sheer though.
What Im looking for is heavy coverage.
I think Ill take a gander over to the Bobbi Brown makeup counter and test some of their products out.
Do any of you have good review for Chanel foundations? Or concealors?
primer is a silicon based liquid base u use first on ur face it givs ur foundaion a good base to start with. its makes ur skin smooth and makes foundation goes on smoothly and perfectly.
psquared: i think liquid foundations r best even if u need heavy coverage cuz u can always layer it on. unliek stick ones they do giev full coverage but they look un natural and need real good blending. whiel liquid ones u can layer on where u need full coverage and leave the other areas and it doesnt look cakey.
go for cream based not water based cuz water baesd will leave streaks and if ur skin is not perfect it will show. and top off with nice powder. it makes a difference trust me.
and for brands i think its a personal choice sumthign that works for me might not work for u. cuz my friends swear by ysl stuff but i dont liek it.
so its better that u visit the mall and try on different brands and stuff and buy watever u think ur comfortabel with.
I personally use Lancome Teint Idole Foundation and powder and have been using it for almost 5 years now without a single complaint. I have very breakout prone combination skin and to this day that foundation has not caused a single mark on my face alhamdullilah.
I was worried just like you about breaking out before my big day and the only thing that will make you break out even more is stress and anxiety so try to keep breakouts the last thing on your mind. Its hard but doable and very well worth it!
The day of my wedding my makeup artist used 2 different shades of MAC foundation and concealer and primer (not in that order lol). It did wonders on my skin and everytime I look at my wedding pictures I still can't believe that's MY skin. Make sure you hire a professional makeup artist who knows his/her stuff because that can make all the difference in the world!
Bonbon, u asked for full-coverage and thru PM's I do know u're skintype and complexion.. u have yellow undertones and Makeup Forever concealers give perfect coverage (heavy coverage) that's needed for great pics and u're Big Day :)
Bobbi Brown foundation stick goes on as cream and dries into a powder form.. u may still "set" it with a matching pressed/loose powder.. to keep u're skin ultra-matte!
I like Dr. Feel Good by Benefit.. it's moisturising and keeps the skin shine-free.
The other liquid foundations maybe great for everyday use and formal events...but they give a more dewy coverage and finish rathar than a complete full-coverage canvas :)
